Needlework Monday - Granny Squares
This is a post dedicated to #needleworkmonday challenge by @crosheille, join us and share your creations 🥰
This winter I made a bunch of hats, so I have a lot of leftover yarns. What do to with so many colors? I did some research on YouTube and found granny squares tutorials, one nicer than the other. These ‘you tubers’ are amazing!
So I chose the basic ones, of course. I am a beginner. I made like 10 of them and got bored already. Initially I thought of making a blanket, but it takes many, many squares and I don’t have so much yarn. So I decided to make a small pillow cover this time.
I calculated... so I needed 12 squares. Ok. Done.
Now the problem is joining the granny squares. I don’t like complicated methods. I checked on YouTube and it looked hard. So I decided to do a simple slip-stitch joint, like you do for hats. It worked!!! I used black yarn 🧶
Hey... my pillow is ready. It looks a little weird, because I don’t have a pattern, but this is what I wanted, unusual! I will name this pillow “end-of-winter-pillow” 🤣😂😜
I hope you like it and I hope I put a little smile on your face. 😊
I so had to smile (ok, I laughed hard) I am constantly tempted by amazing patterns on Ravelry and YouTube videos to crochet a granny square blanket. I start full of enthusiasm and then.... I make a pillow, or headband or a wall hanging. Like you, I find it so tedious to make a whole blanket 😱
But your pillows are beautiful and I love how you used the black yarn for accents 😍
