Plagiarism

Plagiarism means using someone else's words or ideas without properly crediting the original author. sometime it involves deliberately stealing someone's work but often it happens accidentally, through carelessness or forgetfulness.

Plagiarism is the presenting of someone else's words or ideas as your own,with or without their consent,by incorporating it into your work (ideas) without full acknowledgement.All published and unpublished material whether in hardcopy (printed) or electronic form,menuscript is covered. It can be intentional or reckless or unintentional.

Types of plagiarism.

1.Global plagiarism is a type of plagiarism where by you present the entire text by someone else as your own work.
2.paraphrasing plagiarism is the type of plagiarism where you rephrasing someone else's ideas without citation.
3.Verbatim plagiarism is a type of plagiarism where you directly copy a passage of text (work) without citation.
4.Mosaic plagiarism is a type of plagiarism where by you combine text and ideas from different sources without citation.
5.Self-plagiarism is the type of plagiarism where by you reuse passage and ideas from your own previously submitted work.
6.Incorrect citation is a type of plagiarism where you fail to give all the necessary information in your source citation.

How to avoid plagiarism.

1.Keep track of the sources you consult in your research.
2.paraphrase or quote from your sources(and add your own ideas).
3.Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
4.Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.
