There's a reason why we always use security on our phone and one of the reason is to protect important information in our phone. The same thing applies to having a pad lock to lock our door to protect our property and belongings. You can see that the security or padlock has a very important role to play as failure to do so might end up in tampering with our information or looting. Now let's come to the steemit. Our steemit account is like a house with valuable goods or gold and we need to protect their property from thief.

So one way of doing this is by securing and storing our account keys safety. When I said safely I mean in a safe way whereby nobody would tamper with your account. Here is the little guides I can share about my account and keys:

Question 1: Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?

From the very first day I register on steemit, I received the steemit key as a file. When I open the file I got different keys I can use to in carrying out activities in my account such as
key to post, comment and vote
Key to transfer, power up and convert sbd to steem
Key to recovered my account if it compromised, and it the most important key among them.
Key to decrypt meme when making transaction.

The good thing about this file is that there's a description on how to use the key which makes it easier to know when and which key to use at a time.

Question 2: Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

I have a little about this key but let me explain in detail the key and how it works.
Posting key: if I want to log in to my account, I use a posting key because posting key allows me to:

  • Create and publish my own posts
  • Voting on valuable content or posts
  • Engage or give my thoughts through comment on others post.
So generally posting key is meant for engagement.

Active key: Active key has to do with my wallet. For examples I will need posting key to
If I want to power up my steem to steem power

  • Send steem to other
  • Delegating my steem power
  • Converting sbd to liquids or in reverse
  • Transfer steem to exchange.
All this can be carry out with a posting key. This key is like an ATM pin usie in making transaction using bank account. This key is important to me as if anybody gets access to this key I can loss my liquid steem or assets.

Memo key: Memo key is use to decrypt private transactions and it one of the key I have not use yet because I have not perform any private transactions with private memo.

Owner key: owner key is the most important key among the keys as if you lost it or get itnout of control, you cannot be able to recover it. Tha reminds me of my Facebook account which I use 2 factor authentication. When I lose the phone, I couldn't be able to recover it as the person was in control.

So I can use owner key if my account is compromised where I can use it to reset all the key. You got that? All the keys. So imagine someone has this my key it means that he can possibly reset other key and am going to lose the account.

Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?

I have explain the importance of owner key but let me explain the importance of this master key. Remember I talk about how I got my steemit key file, do you remember? If you do, then you'll understand how the master key work. Master key is the password use in generating the file. If the scammer gets access to keys, maybe use the owner key to reset the password, he would then use the master key to generate a new file with the new password. So that's means my old file which I store will be useless.

Am not only planing to keep the master key but all the keys. For me I store it in my Google. With this I can get access to it anytime anywhere. Even if I lose my phone I can be able to access this file elsewhere. So if anything happens to my phone I know my steemit account is safe.

Question: Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Of course I know how to transfer steem to another user though I haven't done it frequently, I think I have done it twice. Now here is the steps to transfer steemit to another steemian.
Steps

  • Remember any thing that have to do with wallet requires an active key, so I login to my wallet.
  • i click on down arrow beside steem and I select transfer.

  • On the transfer interface, I input the user I want to transfer to and the amount. I use @cotina as example, so I put username and the amount 0.001. Then click on next.

Done👍 it will redirect to the wallet interface.0.001 has been deducted from my steem and also confirmed it from the history.

Question 5: Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Of course I know how to power up my steem to steem power, here is the steps to do so.

  • login to my wallet like I said earlier their and click the the down arrow beside steem and select power up.
    IMG_20250126_154310.png
  • I input the amount I want to power up which is 2.231 and click on power up button.

IMG_20250126_154425.png

  • For confirmation, you check the amount one more time then click on OK to confirmed it.
    IMG_20250126_154514.png
  • The power up is done and my steem power has increased from 142.031 to 144.262. I can also confirmed it from the history.

In conclusion, the most important thing is to keep my keys safe so as to protect my account. The reason why I power up everything is because I want to join club100 so I have to power up all my liquid Steem in the next 3 month. Thank you for stoping by.

This achievement is no longer valid; you can find this out in one of the pin posts in the community. I'm kinda curious: why not continue being active and forming your circle? It's more than a year since you joined. Or you can write your first and second progress report.

Oh.... Is not longer valid? What do you mean by forming my own circle?
