Hello everyone, I'm here again to write on my acheivement 3 which talks about content etiquette and plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of showcasing someone's work or idea as yours, without their consent or permission.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

There are different types of plagiarism but for the course of writing, we will be looking into the following

  • Complete plagiarism

  • Self plagiarism

  • Direct plagiarism

  • Source-based plagiarism

  • Paraphrasive plagiarism

  • COMPLETE PLAGIARISM: this is a plagiarism where one copies the entire work of someone exactly, word to word, this is the worst type of plagiarism.

  • SELF PLAGIARISM: it's a type of plagiarism where one copies his or her own old work without referencing it.

  • DIRECT PLAGIARISM: this is like complete plagiarism, but in this case is when one copies part of someone's work and not the whole work.

  • SOURCED-BASED PLAGIARISM this is an act of taking a content from the internet without reference.

  • PARAPHRASIVE PLAGIARISM: this is a plagiarism where one makes slight changes from the original work.

FACTORS THAT CAUSES PLAGIARISM

  • ICT

  • Academic work

  • Regulations

  • ICT: ict is a major factor that causes plagiarism, you can access informations through it and it can be used with common devices like cell phone and laptop, so this makes information easier to access.

  • ACADEMIC WORKS this is another factor that causes plagiarism, due to the pressure of academics, students endulge in plagiarism in order to have good grades.

  • REGULATIONS due to the fact that there are no led down rules and regulations concerning plagiarism act, this has also been a factor.

WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

These are the ways you can avoid plagiarism

  • Your Own Ideas

  • Citations

  • Reference

  • YOUR OWN IDEAS: the best way to avoid plagiarism is by using your own ideas, this helps your work to be totally different from others.

  • CITATION always use citations when taking a content from the internet

  • REFERENCE another way to avoid plagiarism is by making reference when using one's work, even if it's your old work.
