PLAGIARISM is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.source. It might save your time at a short while but you will have to pay higher prize in the future for it, which is why it should be avoided. This act is frown upon in all activities from academics to professional world. There are numerous types of plagiarism that we should know to help us avoid it at all cost.

1.Verbatim plagiarism:This is expressed in common terms as copy and paste plagiarism which automatically defines it.Directly copying the original work then pasting it in to your work without giving any credit to the author. However you can quote direct words of someone if the need arises but it should be in quotation marks and include an in text citation.

2.Mosaic plagiarism:This is also expressed as patch work plagiarism. That is copying different texts from different sources and putting them together.Even though this requires a lot of work, but if credit is not given to the author it is still an act not tolerated and punishable by most institutions.

3.Paraphrasing plagiarism; This is also another common type of plagiarism that is encountered daily. In this type, you reproduce everything in your own words. This is still considered a crime since you did not cite the original owner of the work.

4.Global plagiarism :Taking someone’s entire work and using it as your own or getting someone to write your essay for you as in school settings.

5.Self plagiarism;Reusing the works you already submitted. This is considered a crime because you have been given credit for the work initially so shouldn’t be used again.

In the next writing we will talk about how to avoid plagiarism.
1.Keeping track of the sources you had your information; This can easily be done by compiling list of the citations you encountered during your research. This help to track bits of every information and also makes the citation easy as you know where you got which information.
2.Paraphrase or Quote your text and also add references of where you took the information:
3.Use of plagiarism checker to evaluate your work. This helps you to know to what level is your work similar to others on the internet.

I have read and understood the steemit etiquettes on the steemit community and will do my best to embrace them. Thank you.
