Achievement 2 by @kasun-chamikara Task : Basic Security on Steem

Hello my fellow Steemians,

I hope you are doing well. I am @kasun-chamikara and I posted my Achievement 1 task, a week ago. I believe that the time right for my Achievement 2 task, which is relevant to the basic security of the steem platform.

I would prefer making my post by answering following questions.

QUESTION 1
Have you obtained all the keys in your steemit platform ?

YES.

When I created the steemit account, I have downloaded the PDF containing all the keys including

1.Private and public Posting key
2.Private and public Memo key
3.Private and public Active key
4.Private and public Owner key
5.Master Password

and I kept offline copies in both digital and printed version for the safety, since they cannot be retrieved ever again.

QUESTION 2
Did you know functions and restrictions of each key?

YES, I know.

I would be really thankful for the post made by @cryptokannon on basic security on steem which is really informative.

I would like to describe the function of each keys as follows

Private posting key

Private posting key helps us to log in to the steemit platform and perform common social media actions like voting, posting, editing, resteeming, following, muting, commenting etc. It is recommended to use this key for safety reason to perform above functions all the time.

Private memo key

Private memo key can be used to decrypt the memo when transferring funds.It can be used to ensure that the information is encrypted and it passes to the intended person only.He will be the only person that can decrypt the memo to obtain the information.Intermediate person cannot access the content through interception.

Private Active Key

The Private Active Key has the capability to perform the task like performing transactions,voting for posts, transferring and conversion of cryptocurrencies used in steemit platform (STEEM, SBD),powering up and down etc.Since monetary actions can be done using this key, this should be kept safe otherwise unauthorized person can perform these actions in my account.

Private Owner Key

This can be considered as the most powerful key out of all the keys. This can be used to recover my steemit account if compromised and change all the keys.This key is supposed to store offline, since compromising this cause serious consequences.

Master Password

Master password is the password that has been used to create the create my account.It has generated all the private keys.It can be used to recover my account by generating the private keys.If I lose my master password, I won't be able to access my account

For the common use, I use the private posting key and I don't use active,memo,owner keys and master passwords for the safety.

QUESTION 3
What is your plan to keep the master password?

I keep OFFLINE copies of all the passwords including master password for the safety of my steemit account. Offline copies include hard drive and printed version of all the keys.

QUESTION 4
Do you know how to transfer steem token from your account to another user account?

YES, I know

In order to transfer steem tokens, I have to go to My wallet in steem platform.

Then,you have to click on the balance on STEEM.

Then, click on Transfer

I have to use the Private Active key to perform the transfer action. I have provide my username, username of the recipient, amount and type (STEEM or SBD), memo (if needed). And you can complete the transaction.

QUESTION 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

YES, I know

I have to go to My wallet as previously.Click on the balance on STEEM.Click on Power up

I have to provide the amount,username and memo. For powering up, I have to provide Private Active or Owner key or master password.
