Plagiarism is when you presents someone's work as yours whether intentional or unintentional. These plagiarize work could be either published or unpublished. Plagiarism undermines ingenuity and the disregard of it leads to unprofessional and mediocre work.
The essence of this content etiquette helps users to come-up with genuine work that does not belong to anyone. It also helps prevent intellectual thievery

Plagiarism is a criminal offence and can lead to the prosecution of individuals that indulge in it. It can also lead to the withdrawal of your achievements and certificates if it is found that you plagiarize to earn those achievements. A ll works or materials that do not belong to you must be cited and in an event where you publish your own work or have submitted it to in an academic work, such your needs to be cited again; by citing yourself. Failure to do this would constitute plagiarism though, this might not lead you to jail since its your own self.

Types of Plagiarism are, plagiarism of self, ideas, direct plagiarism, authorship, accidental plagiarism and many more...

CITATION
Citation is when an author gives credits to works he sourced his information from. This helps to locate, and validate such information or sourced easily. Citation could be used when you , paraphrase, quote, paraphrase or summarize ideas that do not belong to you, use theories, etc.
