Introduction

Season Greetings to you my friend & Happy New year. In this year I wish success, progress, love, peace financial freedom and many more that you wish yourself. Today I will be discussing about my achievement 3 task on the topic : Content Etiquette. In this post o have discussed about plagiarism and how we can avoid plagiarism. Let's get started.

Plagiarism

Whenever a person here the word Plagiarism, the first thing that the person will think of is Stealing without referencing what has been stole from another author. In a nutshell, Plagiarism is simply an act of someone presenting a work or an idea of another person without referencing the original author of the work that he/she is presenting. Plagiarism is something that do happened in blogging, media house, school and even in our various place of works.

This means that as a writer most especially, Steemians we should do our possible best to avoid Plagiarism by all cause. As a Steemians whether the idea of your post is been gotten from the internet or books and you copy past of the works that you post online, you must give a reference to the working by sourcing the work. In a case where you copy another person work an claim it's your work without crediting the author such a work is regarded as a Plagiarised work which is nothing but a Plagiarism.

According to library guide for international students.

Plagiarism: presenting others' work without adequate acknowledgement of its source, as though it were one’s own. Plagiarism is a form of fraud. We all stand on the shoulders of others, and we must give credit to the creators of the works that we incorporate into products that we call our own.source

Plagiarism don't only involved copying of other people's work but also involve uncrediting the work or the use of another person idea without referencing the person from the work is copied from as I have earlier said.

Types of Plagiarism

Plagiarism are of several types but in this achievement 3 task I have discussed about the four common types of Plagiarism that we usually do or see.

Self Plagiarism

This is the type of plagiarism that a steemian submit a work or some part of that work that he/she has already submitted before, without authorization from the administrator. Example a contest is was given in Steemalive community and and I submitted my work and after some days a similar contest is given either in that same Steemalive or another community and I went and copy some part of the work that I submitted previously without permission from the administrator or organizer of the contest it is regarded as self plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism:

This is the type of plagiarism that happens in Steemit when a user make use of another user phrases and forget to cite, quote or give credit to phrase used.

Accidental Plagiarism:

This is the type of Plagiarism that happens to a user when the user forget to quote to reference the source of his/her work or misspelled the source or by rewriting the source. That is changing the source.

Direct Plagiarism:

This is the type of Plagiarism that a user that involves copying of everything from another users without without even a quotation marks. Here I can easily easy is a Plagiarism that has to do with copying the work of another user form A to Z without changing anything.
