Actsofkindness : Together with residents and youth cleaning up fallen trees
together working together to clean up fallen trees
This afternoon the atmosphere in the stall where I sat with my brother @aril.hatwke was quite calm. The gentle breeze and light chat made the time feel relaxed. However, the atmosphere changed when a resident approached us with a worried face. He asked for help because in front of his house there was an elderly person who lived alone, while an old, rotten tree was seen leaning towards the areca nut tree and was worried that it would fall, endangering the children who often passed by in the alley.
Without waiting long, my brother @aril hatwke and I immediately headed to the location. When we arrived there, we saw the condition of the tree which was already neat and tilted. Together with local residents and several other young people, we immediately took the initiative to help cut down the tree for the safety of local residents, especially the elderly and children.
The process was not easy because the large branches and bushes around it limited access. We started by clearing the area around the tree, cutting the branches one by one so that they would not hit the power lines or buildings. However, when the main trunk was cut down, the direction the tree fell hit one of the residents' buildings. The front roof collapsed because it was hit by a large trunk.
Seeing this incident, we immediately rushed to help. Without panicking, we lifted the scattered roof debris and moved the part of the tree that was still pressing on the building. Residents whose houses were hit looked resigned, but were still grateful because there were no fatalities and we were all ready to help as much as we could.
mutual cooperation to clean up debris with dry trees
This afternoon's activity turned into a real form of mutual cooperation and solidarity. Although it was initially just to relax at the stall, we ended up getting involved in a very meaningful social activity. The incident was a reminder that concern and cooperation between residents are very important, especially in dealing with emergency situations like this. I feel proud to be able to take part with my brothers and other friends to help others selflessly.
