🏵️THE DIARY GAME 🏵️

A house was built on our property for fish farming. In this house, we cultivate various species of native fish.

A long time ago, we had released climbing perch (koi), tilapia, and catfish (sing) into this pond. The fish have grown quite large. Since the month of Ramadan, we had been planning to harvest them after Eid. And we stuck to that plan. Once Eid was over and all the busyness had settled down, the fish harvesting process began.

To catch the fish, the first step was to drain all the water from the house. Since the pond is quite deep, it's not possible to remove the water with buckets. So, we used a motor to pump the water out. The motor ran all night to drain the pond, and we wrapped a piece of mosquito net over the pipe's opening to prevent debris from entering the motor and causing damage. This method made water removal very easy.

As the water level started to drop, the fish began jumping around. With less water, the fish became clearly visible, especially the tilapia, which had grown significantly larger. Along with them, there were a few large-sized batta fish—almost as big as the ones sold in the market. As the water level got lower, we started trying to catch the fish by hand. If we didn’t catch them quickly, it would become difficult. But we were able to catch them quite nicely.

As you can see, the fish have grown quite big. Many people have found success in farming fish like this in their homeyards. However, we didn't need to sell our farmed fish because we consume a large amount of fish at home. The fish were large and looked great. The catfish (shing) had also grown big. One has to be careful while handling shing fish because their spines can cause pain if they prick the hand. I had been pricked by a shing fish spine before, so this time I was extra cautious while catching them.

Fishing is a kind of addiction. I used to love fishing as a child. Back then, we would go to the wetlands (bils) to fish. But those little joys have gradually disappeared from our lives. You can't really go fishing in the open like that anymore. Today, while catching fish in our own pond, all those childhood memories came flooding back.

After finishing the fish harvesting, I came out of the pond. Since winter has ended and the weather is starting to get warmer, the leaves from the trees have begun to fall. I have a flower garden, and it had become covered with fallen leaves. As a result, the garden looked quite untidy. So, after the fishing was done, I entered the flower garden and cleaned it thoroughly with a broom, making sure it looked neat and beautiful again.

It had been a long time since I last entered the garden. Once inside, I noticed that a few flower plants had fallen over due to the wind. So, I used sticks to prop them up and help them stand upright again. If these flower plants are not taken care of, they might get damaged from neglect. That’s why I tended to each plant carefully, gave them water properly, and made sure everything was in order. After the cleaning and care, the garden now looks much more beautiful.

While I was working in the flower garden, I suddenly noticed a baby rabbit in the rabbit hutch. I immediately rushed over, and upon reaching there, I saw a tiny baby rabbit running around. Our rabbit had given birth to babies before as well, but our pet cat ate them. This time, I only saw one baby rabbit. However, seeing this little one made me really happy. I gave the baby rabbit some grass to eat.

Afterward, my hands and feet were covered in dirt, so I went to take a bath. Since morning, I had been working, including cleaning the flower garden. I had done a lot of work today, which made me quite dirty. I took a proper bath and got refreshed. After bathing, I got ready to go to the market.

I needed to buy some fertilizer, as we had to apply it to our rice crops. Since the fertilizer needs to be applied tomorrow, it was necessary to buy it today; otherwise, there would be trouble. My cousin and I went to the market together to buy the fertilizer. We bought it successfully and returned home.

All in all, it was a very busy day from morning to evening. Amidst all this busyness, I didn’t even realize how time had passed. But it was truly a beautiful day.
