Betterlife - The Diary Game | 06 March, 2025 | My mother's second dose vaccine experience at BIITD..

March 3rd was a terrible day. After fasting all day during Ramadan, at the end of the day, the fasting people feel a little tired, and some people go out for a walk. My mother went out for a walk behind the house that afternoon, because it was a little hot and there was enough time for iftar.

Leaving the house was the worst for her. A local dog bit my mother on the leg. A few days ago, the dogs were unnecessarily biting many locals, so they were chased away from the area. My mother immediately returned home and informed me about the matter.

I examined the wound carefully and found that the bite mark was very small, but it is not right to ignore animal bites, as they can cause rabies. It was almost time for Iftar, so I hired a private car without delay and immediately took her to BIITD (Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases) and vaccinated her.

I felt some relief that day as my mother was able to get the rabies vaccine. However, that was the first dose and there were two more doses left. One was on the 6th and the other on the 10th march. That day, the nurse explained the treatment to me well and asked me to give the vaccines on time.

In today's diary, I will share with you the moments of giving my mother the second dose of rabies at BIITD on the 6th. I do not agree to neglect my mother's care and treatment. It was a Thursday and I decided to go in the noon to know about my mother's condition.

BIITD is a government health complex and hospital, located in Fauzdarhat, Chittagong. Here, vaccinations for various diseases are given free of cost by government doctors. Earlier, in 2020, I had taken all my Covid-19 vaccinations from here.

In the noon, there were very few patients and the environment outside the hospital was calm and quiet. Then I entered the hospital with my mother. It is worth noting that the work of upgrading it as the second unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital will start soon.

Upon entering, I first had to show my mother’s vaccination card to a doctor at the gate. This card was given to record the registration number and the serial numbers of the vaccines. The card was given on the day I first brought my mother here.

Then, when I gave the registration card to a nurse, she checked everything and made my mother sit on a chair and asked if she was in pain. On the first day, she was given some antibiotics along with the vaccination, which helped the pain to subside quickly.

Anyway, the nurse finally injected the second dose of rabies into my mother’s body and the whole process was completed quickly. I tried to talk to the nurse for a while and try to find out about the treatment from her. She advised me on several things and asked me to give the third dose on time, which was given yesterday (March 10).

However, I was very worried about my mother for the last one week, finally I am getting some relief now. On my way back from the hospital, I bought two green coconut from a vendor that day. The price of two coconut was 200 taka BDT/13.04 STEEM, which was reasonable considering the size of the coconut.

I bought these for my mother, because she was fasting, so coconut water would be very good for her after iftar. When I returned home, I collected the water from the coconut and kept it in a bottle in the fridge and gave it to my mother during iftar.

Shortly after iftar, I went to the mosque at night to offer Tarawih, the special prayer of Ramadan and from there I returned to have dinner. As of today I'm leaving here. Wish you all good health, everyone.

It is certainly good to know that Aunty is now healthy and Allah has granted her health and I wish her to stay healthy. Of course, it is never right to neglect a dog's health. You have taken enough care and service and have arranged for your mother's adequate treatment. It is very good. When such children take care of their mothers and fathers, then the parents have no more worries. I pray endlessly for your mother and I wish that she can spend the remaining days of Ramadan healthy.
