The railway station is located in Motijheel, Dhaka , the capital of Bangladesh. It is the central railway station and the largest railway station in Bangladesh. This railway station connects the capital with the whole of Bangladesh. I first visited this railway station in 2001 and visited it recently. Its construction started in 1960 and it was inaugurated in 1968.

This railway station has a total of 11 platforms. I got off at platform number 03 by train from Chittagong. Platforms 01 to 07 are used only for commuter and long-distance transport. After the train stopped at the platform, passengers started getting off and walking along the platform. The platform is almost empty but when the train arrives or departs, it gets crowded. My nephew came to receive me. They were also waiting at platform number 3. After I got off, I met him and we also started walking from the platform to go home. My ticket price to come here from Chittagong was 970 BDT or 63.3 ST (7.7 USDT). 1 Steem= 15.3 BDT (current value)I traveled in an AC seat so my fare was relatively high but if you travel in a regular seat, the fare will be less.

	Foot over bridge
	Careless coolies

This station has a foot over bridge to go from one platform to another. Although very few people use the foot over bridge. The busiest people when the train arrives are the ones who carry the luggage of the passengers in exchange for money. In the local language they are called coolies. They have a specific dress code. Red shirts and always carry stretchers to carry luggage. In my picture you can see them unconsciously going from one platform to another on the railway track. Which they should not do.

Train that carry goods

Hundreds of tons of goods are unloaded at this railway station every day. Goods come by train not only from Bangladesh but also from neighboring countries. Everything from stone, iron to raw vegetables comes to the capital of Bangladesh through freight trains through this railway station. Freight trains in Bangladesh are yellow in color. When I was entering this station, I saw a freight train coach at the station. Such freight trains are always seen at the railway station.

Creative roof Design

The architects of Kamalapur Railway Station were Daniel Dunham and Bob Bui. They created a great design considering the weather and climate of Bangladesh. The roof is made in the shape of an umbrella. When you look at the roof of the railway station, it looks like many umbrellas are made together. When I first saw this place, it was very surprising to me. However, at the time this design was prepared, it was a completely new design that the designers prepared very wisely. This roof with 36 concrete domes stands on a total of 49 pillars. This traditional roof attracts anyone's attention.

There are two points for entry and exit. One is regular and the other is VIP. We exited through the VIP exit. It is comparatively less busy. Also, there is no need to check tickets and go out here. Also, between the two entrances, there is the station master's office. If you want, you can complain about any issue here.

Monitor for Updates of Trains

Before entering the back, a large 3D monitor displays the train's name and schedule. Also, if a train is delayed in reaching a station, it is immediately notified on the monitor. There is an announcement system throughout the station. Any important emergency announcement can be made throughout the station through loudspeakers.
