Steemian Friends,
Today, I will submit a beautiful and instructive learning lesson homework by @ashkhan mam in Week 06 of Steemit Learning Challenge 22. The lesson name is Steemit Learning Challenge-S22W6: Physical Therapy Intervention: Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The exercises learned through the lessons have been very beneficial for me. I hope everyone likes my homework.

What's a thoracic outlet syndrome? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post. (Note: don't add special tests or investigations and detailed treatment in this question. Write the answer precisely).

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS):
Thoracic outlet syndrome is a problem caused by nerve or vascular compression. It occurs when the nerves and blood vessels in the chest, neck, or neck are compressed. In medical science, thoracic outlet syndrome is known by various names, such as the first thoracic rib, cervical rib, and hyper-adduction syndrome.

Our body has numerous nerves and blood vessels. Blood flow is disrupted when nerves and blood vessels are compressed due to various reasons in the body. Then, various problems appear in our bodies. Thoracic outlet syndrome is the problem we face as a result of compression of nerves and blood vessels. I understood it by reading the teacher's lesson.

How would you diagnose a thoracic outlet syndrome? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests? ( Don't add treatment to this question)

Diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome:
I will perform both clinical and assessment tests on the patient to diagnose thoracic outlet syndrome. As a specialist, I need to know two methods to diagnose it.

Clinical investigation:
I need to know about a patient's past treatment or illness. I will learn about the patient's occupation, family, and past medical and traumatic problems. I will do various tests on the patient, such as X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRIs. By such clinical examination, I can diagnose a patient with thoracic outlet syndrome. Then, I will look for thoracic outlet syndrome problems with special tests and physiotherapy.

I will use the three methods given in my teacher's lesson to solve the problem of a thoracic outlet syndrome patient.

Adson Maneuver:
In this method, I first check a patient's blood pressure. Then, I sit the patient and stretch the arms. Then, I ask the patient to turn their face and neck forward or both ways. Then, I ask the patient to take a deep breath and hold it. In this case, I will observe the patient and make a report to look for thoracic outlet syndrome.

Halstead Maneuver:
I am a physiotherapist who will sit the patient and look for the radial pulse in the arm. Then, I ask the patient to extend the arms and turn the face and neck. I will then observe the patient's radial pulse. Based on the radial pulse, I would diagnose thoracic outlet syndrome. I demonstrate the Halsted Maneuver test as a therapist below.

Allen or weight test:
I will do this while the patient sits. Thoracic outlet syndrome will be diagnosed by observing the radial pulse and skin colour by hyperadduction of the patient's shoulders. I have demonstrated the entire process as a therapist below.

Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practicing preferably gifs or videos.

Straight arm shoulder extension:
I took a stick back and held it in both hands. Then I raise both hands straight up. Then, take some time and lower both hands down. In this way, I do the exercise several times.

Since I do the exercise with a stick behind my back, the area from my neck to the spine is straight. As I mentioned before, I have a slight bend from the neck down when I walk. When I did the exercise with both hands behind the stick, the back of my neck straightened up a lot. Every exercise is very important to me.

Shoulder Shrugs:
I sit on a table, straighten up, raise the shoulders with both hands and lower them again. Thus, I rise and fall three times. When I do this exercise, I do it for at least ten minutes.

I did the Shoulder Shrugs first. I was in the office, so I did the exercise while sitting in the power room. I would have liked to have done the exercise in a more beautiful location. I have seen the shoulder shrug exercise given by the teacher a few times before. Then, I practiced a few times myself. I sometimes have pain in the back of my neck. I will benefit a lot from this exercise. I will do this exercise if I have back pain next time. I feel better after the exercise. I thank my teacher.

Scapula Retraction:
To do the exercise, I sit at a table and take both hands behind me. Then, I bend both shoulders backwards. The two shoulder blades pinched along my spine. In this way, I do the exercise several times.

I feel great doing this exercise. Exercise is very important for my back pain. I will do the exercise for ten minutes every day. Doing this exercise on the back of my neck has increased blood circulation. I wobble a bit when I walk. By doing the exercise, my bones from the neck to the spine are improving. I will do this exercise every day. The exercise will really benefit me a lot.

Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, a healthy individual or a patient.

The exercises were very important for me. Especially the back of my neck, which has a slight curve to the spine. I have looked down while walking since childhood. So, the back of my neck is a little crooked. Every exercise is effective in straightening the crooked back of my neck. I will try to do the exercises every day. I have shoulder pain after a few days due to sleeping problems. I feel like the exercises will be very important for my shoulder pain. Again, I thank my teacher for teaching the exercises. I would have benefited more if I had participated in the exercise engagements of the last five weeks. I could learn more about exercise.

¡Saludos amigo!🤗

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.

Observations

Task 1 (1.5/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about thoracic outlet syndrome, other names but didn't add its symptoms, causes, types. I appreciate your effort.

Task 2 (3/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination, history taking, and investigations. That's good you add special tests and also explanation of special tests. Excellent.

Task 3 (3.9/4)
You try the shoulder shrugs, retraction and straight arm extension. You did the shoulder shrugs, retraction and straight arm extension correctly. But it would be better to shrugs the shoulder for 5 to 10 seconds as it's a type of muscle stretching. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.

Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from thoracic outlet syndrome or any type of spine issue. Thank you.
