I hope everyone is well. Alhamdulillah I am also well. As always, @suboohi mam has selected a great cuisine in the Global Cuisine course. In this week's SLC-S23//Week#5-Exploring The Global Cuisine, we will be able to experience (Venezuelan Cuisine). It is going to be very great. In this course, we will be able to feel the warmth and hospitality of Venezuela. So let's go friends.

1-What is new for you from the course, any spice or cooking technique or anything that you want to share?(2pts)

I love cooking very much. I always pay attention to adding different spices to make the food delicious. In the Venezuela cuisine course, I learned a lot about their food habits that I did not know before. Corn is used as the main ingredient in Venezuelan cuisine. Especially in the Venezuela cuisine course, I got to know some new spices (dried Thyme, dried Oregano, and dried Rosemary). These spices are not used in our local cuisine. First, when I saw the ingredients, I thought for some time how Rice with chicken and vegetables would taste with them. Then, putting an end to all imagination, I went to the kitchen. I tried to present the cuisine given in the course in the way I learned. I was very excited for the last step of cooking. When I saw that the new spices used in my cuisine today (dried Thyme, dried Oregano, and dried Rosemary) spread a very beautiful aroma in the food. I was able to gain a new experience with some new spices in this course, which is another beautiful experience of my love for cooking.

Ingredients of Rice with chicken and vegetables

Ingredients:
Basmati rice1 cup
Chicken250 gram
Cumin seeds1 tsp
Dried Oregano1tsp
Salts per taste
Black Pepper1 tsp
Garlic1 tsp
Onion chopped 1
Oil 100ml
Worcestershire Sauce 2
Peas 200grams
Carrot 1 pis
Bell pepper 1pis

Cooking Process of Rice with chicken and vegetables


  • Step 1:

First, wash and clean the boneless chicken meat, drain the water, and put it in a bowl. Now add ground cumin, Dried Oregano, Dried Thyme, Garlic, Ginger, and Dried Rosemary to the chicken. Then add pepper powder and Worcestershire Sauce and marinate all the ingredients well with the chicken. After marinating, keep it aside for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2:

I didn't have frozen vegetables in stock. So I used fresh vegetables here. For the Rice with chicken and vegetable recipe, I cut carrots, green capsicum, red chili, onion, and beans into very small pieces.

  • Step 3:

Now, in a pan on the stove, I heated 100 grams of oil and added the marinated chicken. Then I stirred it and cooked it well. When the chicken was cooked, I put the chicken in a separate bowl.

  • Step 4:

In the same pan, I added chopped onion, carrots, capsicum, red chili and beans, and garlic in the remaining oil. Then I increased the heat of the stove and stirred it and cooked it for 2-3 minutes.

  • Step 5:

When the vegetables were well cooked, I added the fried chicken. Then I added 1 cup of washed and cleaned rice and peas. After mixing everything very well, I added 2 cups of water covered it with a lid, and cooked it.

  • Step 6:

I will remove the lid and stir it in the middle of cooking. I will cook it on low heat until the excess water dries up.

3-Is your local cousin has any food that resembles the shared recipe?

Yes, Venezuelan Rice with chicken and vegetable cuisine is very similar to our local food Chicken Vegetable Biryani in Bangladesh. Biryani is a traditional dish of our local cuisine to entertain guests or to make any special occasion more interesting. Winter vegetables (beans, carrots, peas) are not available except in the winter season, so sometimes we use frozen vegetables to make Chicken Vegetable Biryani. But the spices used in our local cuisine are applied slightly differently from the spices used in Venezuelan Rice with chicken and vegetable cuisine.

In our local cuisine, it is possible to make Chicken Vegetable Biryani with fresh vegetables in the winter season.

Finally, I will say that our local cuisine Chicken Vegetable Biryani and Venezuelan Rice with chicken and vegetables cuisine are very similar to each other. And the taste of both cuisines is very delicious and tempting.

4- Which flavour or spice do you like from Venezuelan cuisine?

I have noticed that more or less the same spices are used in the cuisines of different countries. But the process of using those spices in food is different in different countries' cuisines. In Bangladesh, the spices we use in our food are usually powdered, and some spices are used in paste in food. (For example: ginger, garlic)

Cumin and oregano's great aroma gives the food a great taste. So I like the aroma of cumin and oregano more than Venezuelan cuisine. It doubles the taste of the food. I use the aroma of cumin and oregano in my local cuisine to make a delicious dish.
