"SLC21/WK5: Introduction to Basic Solar Power"
Assalamualaikum Everyone. I am @imranhassan
From #Bangladesh
How are you all? I hope you are well by the grace of God, I am also well today. Today I have come to share with you, @mahadisalim sir, organised by #electricity-s21w5. "SLC21/WK5: Introduction to Basic Solar. Thank you, @mahadisalim sir, for organising such a beautiful Introduction to Basic Solar contest. And in today's contest, as per the contest rules, I thank you again for organising such a beautiful contest, and I am going to start my post.
🟩Share your knowledge about solar power with us by reading our lesson. |
---|
I have gained a lot of knowledge about solar power by reading this entire post of yours, which I am sharing with you. What I have learnt from this post is how solar power works, and if I use a DC solar system in my home, then I have learnt how many watts of load and how many watts of solar panels I need to use. And I have learnt how to pass DC power by controlling through solar panels how many watts and how many lights I can run. And in our home, the AC current TV, fridge, light, fan, etc. are always running. Now if I want to run them in my home through the current of solar panels, then I have learnt how to run them using an inverter.
🟩Write three important differences between AC solar and DC solar systems. (as learned from our lesson) |
---|
The difference between AC solar and DC solar system What I learned from here is that if we use any DC 12 volt light or fan, then we first have to use DC solar panel. And with the help of controlling, the battery will be charged and with the help of controlling, we can use that 12 volt fan and fan according to the watt.
And if we want to run the AC fan, lamp, TV, and fridge used in our house through a solar panel, then we have to store the solar electricity current in the battery, and there we have to use an inverter to convert the AC current into AC according to the load of our house.
And the third thing is that if we use any DC light fan, then we will only need a solar controller, and if we use any AC light fan or anything else, then we have to increase the cost a little and we have to add an inverter according to the load and watt.
🟩Calculate your home's electrical load and share it with us. Follow our lesson as an example. |
---|
I have a total of four lamps and two ceiling fans in my house. And no TV or additional devices are used in our house; only everyone uses mobile phones. I have calculated their electrical load and shared it here.
Electrical Elements Name | Rating | Quantity | Total Power |
---|---|---|---|
Light | 20 Watt | 3 Pcs | 60 Watt |
Fan | 70 Watt | 2 Pcs | 140 Watt |
I have calculated the electrical load of my house as a total of 240 watts, and now if I use solar power according to this electrical load, then I will have to buy solar power panels as that electrical load.
🟩Prepare a DC solar project specification for a customer's home to use four 5-watt lamps and three 20-watt fans. |
---|
Electrical Elements Name | Rating | Quantity | Total Power |
---|---|---|---|
Light | 05 Watt | 04 Pcs | 60 Watt |
Fan | 20 Watt | 03 Pcs | 140 Watt |
According to the above load, 80 watts is shown here, so 80 watts is not such a big DC solar effect. I have prepared a specification here to make a DC solar project in the customer's or my house. And I think that if I go to buy this small DC solar panel project, it can be collected in the market for very little money.
🟩Prepare specifications for a customer's AC solar system to drive a water pump motor of 1 HP or 746 W and write the function of each device. |
---|
I have prepared an AC solar system specification as per your suggestion. Earlier, we learnt from one of your posts that 1 HP or its wattage is 746. And I have taken a 1 HP motor of 220 volt AC current here along with a 20 watt light and an 80 watt fan. And I have calculated the wattage of three loads here and found that the total is 846 watts. And to generate this 846 watts of electricity, I have to buy a solar panel of more than 1000 from the market. Along with this, I have to buy an inverter according to 1000 watts. And below I have given the devices required to make a 1000-watt AC solar panel.
Solar Material Name | Quantity | Range |
---|---|---|
Solar Panel | 01 Piece | 1000 Watt \ a device that converts sunlight into electricity |
Inverter | 01 Piece | 1000 Watt\1000 VA \ inverter is a device that converts direct current (DC) power to alternating current (AC) power |
Battery | 01 Piece | 165 AH \ a container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity |
Motor | 01 Piece | 1HP\746 Watt \ An electric motor is a machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy |
Ceiling fan | 01 Piece | 80 Watt \ A ceiling fan is a device that can cool a room, circulate air |
Light | 01 Piece | 20 Watt \ Visible light spans the visible spectrum |
I have invited three active friends of mine.

You have got the right idea about solar energy. You mentioned clear description about solar energy. With solar power you learn to manage the load. You have clarified the knowledge you have acquired. The main source of solar energy is the sun which stores energy through photo voltaic cells. The details you mentioned were also clear. (1)
Three differences between DC and AC solar systems are presented in a unique way. You are trying to elaborate on the mentioned differences. It makes it easy to spot the differences. (1)
Note the electrical loads in your home and calculate their watts. You could have mentioned a load of two more to be clear. Since the two loads mentioned in the course were similar to one of your loads. The details you have mentioned in terms of your calculations are quite nice. (1.3)
Specifications include four lights and three fans powered by solar panels. Here you have demonstrated your knowledge skills more clearly through images. Solar powered fan, and bowl power calculations were correct. You have shown considerable clarity on this point. ( 2.6)
The customer specified the specification of AC solar panel for running 1 horse power motor. In case of AC solar system you could have omitted fan and lamp diagram as per course question. You have clearly mentioned the steps required to operate the motor through AC solar panel. (3.2)

Thank you very much for reviewing my post and giving your valuable time. And for marking me. And I am sincerely sorry that when I was writing the diagram I mistakenly left out the fan and the rest.
All the best to you, you have introduced solar power very nicely, described each step very nicely, I didn't have much idea about solar power, read your post and got some idea, thanks a lot for sharing this nice post with us. Be well and have a nice day.
Thank you very much for respecting my post. And for spending your valuable time reading the post. And I am glad that you learnt something.
