Winter has been my most preferred season, and indeed this one has opened up my life with so much warmth apart from the cold weather. It is so special when the mornings are a little crisp and the thickness of the fog lingers in the air during holidays. Today I would like to tell you about a fantastic day which will be always in my memory – the day when we visited my husband’s office annual picnic.

The sun was rising during early winter, and filters of fog diluted the rich gold shades of the morning dawn. I and my husband woke up early in the morning the feeling of the entire day being full of events reaching us. The picnic was held at my husband’s workplace, the 18 Squadron and right from the time I got there, I was wowed by how they had organized the place was so attractive. The atmosphere at the entire area was beautiful as if it had been specially designed for a winter event.

This morning we had a very lovely breakfast with the Area Commandant Bhabi and Bhai and all the instructors’ families. It was a warm social event and the food was as warm as the people were that attended and the food was delicious. After that we moved over to the side where the lunch was being prepared. People were roasting foods on large clay stoves to give the traditional look of the day. For the record, everyone loves good food and the smell that accompanies it, so we took a lot of photographs. There was so much to look at in every corner of the picnic and that is why our lenses were working overtime.

The actual enjoyment started during the games session. For the ladies they had a golf event whereby we had to put into a hole three balls of golf. To my greatest amazement I was able to receive the third prize : It was quite unbelievable but then that was a very special feel. While the children and men were playing the games, they were entertained by laughter and cheers what attracted the most attention was a tug of war. It was such a great event with the married team winning to the unmarried team most probably cause they know their task all too well. Seeing others enjoying and having fun around affected me positively from deep inside of me.

Lunch too was another key activity which was so enjoyable. The food was loose, hot and tasted like home cooked meal: khichuri, eggs, and beef bhuna to be precise. This meal for me is even more special when shared with all people around.

Then followed the prize distribution and I was ever so glad to get a prize for my little golf triumph! The smiles on people’s faces during the ceremony were really infectious, it made me feel really nice as well.

Finally at the close of the day, we had to take the remaining group photos as a way of marking the joy of this beautiful day. Today was not only a picnic, no it was the day we came together, we laughed and we said thank you. The count of memories we developed will forever remain a positive soul in my heart for many years.
