5 Reasons Why India Is the Best Country in the World

There are so many reasons why India is the best country in the world, but I’ll tell you 5 of them right now...

1. Gender Equality
   In Indian culture, men and women have an equal place in society. While that certainly isn’t true for every single person, it is generally regarded as a major positive of Indian life. Women are treated with respect, and if any man doesn’t accord them with that same respect they will likely be reprimanded by other Indians who see their treatment as unacceptable. Gender equality gives rise to feelings of security among all members of society—women feel safe on streets without fear of being attacked or ogled and men don’t have to worry about feeling emasculated because they work at a lower-paying job than another member of their gender.

2. Corruption
   We want what we want and we want it now. Not only do you need to be vigilant when it comes to corrupt officials, but also where your money is going. You can't compare a country with a population of over 1 billion people to one of roughly 200 million (Pakistan), so obviously there are more potential scammers and con artists on India's ground than Pakistan's. The key is being careful enough not to get duped yet confident enough that you know how to pick out someone who's trying an ill-gotten angle. If you pay with cash, don't let anyone make change for you. And if possible, pay by credit card whenever possible so you have some sort of recourse should something go wrong or be misrepresented.

3. Inclusiveness of all religions
   One of my favorite things about Indian culture is how accepting it is. The country has been home to millions of religious pilgrims for centuries, a fact that lends itself to immense diversity. From temples to mosques, ashrams to churches, Hinduism’s large pantheon of gods and goddesses is scattered throughout public spaces — a fact I really appreciate after visiting Pakistan. Overall, I feel more welcomed here than anywhere else in South Asia. The locals are friendly, public transportation is safe and easy to use, and most everyone speaks English (and their own language) well enough for me to get by without having learned any local words or phrases at all! The food here is delicious as well — from spicy curries to salty samosas.

4. Innovation
   Innovation is crucial for a country’s economic growth and social well-being. Several studies have shown that innovation helps drive employment, income, productivity, and GDP growth. Both developed and developing countries can benefit from an environment that promotes innovation—whether it comes from multinational corporations or small businesses. Innovation is also important to address a wide range of issues such as health care costs, education access, food security, energy consumption, climate change mitigation—the list goes on. At its core, innovation requires people with good ideas who have access to resources (financial and otherwise) to develop those ideas into sustainable products or services that they can bring to market. Even with all of these benefits clear, investment in research and development (R&D) is declining globally.
