Pancreas is a very useful organ in the body which works for digestion and control blood sugar. This organ is responsible for the secretion of digestive enzymes that break down food in the intestines and the release of hormones like insulin, glucagon.

When the pancreas is messed up, you get some life-ending diseases simply because everything in the body starts to suck.

Background on Pancreatic Disease

There are several primary types of pancreatic disease as follows :

Pancreatitis — an inflammation of the pancreas can be acute (sudden and severe), or it lasts for a long term. The leading causes are caused from over-indulgence of alcoholic beverages, gallstones or infection.

Diabetes Mellitus is A disease in which body do not produce sufficient or function the pancreas or fail to produce insulin, thus blood sugar increases.

Pancreatic Cancer -- one of the malignancies which are challenging to detect in an early stage and carries a low survival potential. Key risk factors are smoking, obesity and a positive family history of pancreatic cancer

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency — Pancreas does not secrete enough enzyme from the pancreas results can not absorb the nutrition.

In the initial stage Pancreatic Disease may not even show any obvious symptoms as such but if left untreated it can further turn into a critical one. Typical symptoms that can be shown include epigastric pain radiating to the back, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting and unexplained weight loss.

Administer blood sugar control — For diabetics this means always keeping your sugar stable through a good diet and exercise.

Pancreas is an organ that is rarely considered until something goes dramatically wrong. A Healthy lifestyle will keep away all kinds of pancreatic diseases and benefit overall health. Anyone with a family history of pancreatic disease should see a doctor regularly to address potential issues.
