Caping Of Nurses During Matriculation, my first time to witness it
I have never attended nursing matriculation ceremony my whole life. I never knew that their cap is given them during the event. I thought they will just start wearing the cap as they grow in rank or at a certain stage.
In the past, I had worked so hard to be a nurse
That was before my tertiary education. I had it in mind during my high school and as such, as soon as I was done with my high school exams, I went for it. I wrote entrance exams for 3 years, I wou6pass the exams and go for interviews, but won'take it. I never knew you will have to bribe or work your way to gain entrance. I thought it was by merit.
I got fade up with it and opted for accounting as a course in the polytechnic. But that is in the past now. Just that I was reminded of it on the day I attended my little friend's matriculation not long ago.
I got an invitation to attend. Here below is the invite card from my little friend
here is my invitation that made me to witness it |

I considered it an honour to be there. In fact, she is my daughter's friend and my daughter yearned to attend but it was a Friday, a school day and as sun, she will be in school. But she ensured that she sent a gift through me to her friend according to her means. She drafted a congratulatory card with her hands and bought a mug in addition, wrapped them and gave me to deliver. That was so thousand kind of her.
On the said say which was on the 24th of January 2025, I, my husband, @bossj23, @steemnurse01 and her little brother went together to the occasion. Though we went a little late because I had to first of all train my clients in fitness that morning, go home, freshened up and got ready.
But we still met the most important part of the event. We met them as they were invited students to make presentations. They presented the anatomy of the body, they also presented the common illnesses, their symptoms, their treatment and how to avoid them. My little friend was one of the presenters

A replica of Florence Nightingale |
The last picture was to remind the students of the days of their little beginning as nurses. The history was narrated, how the said Florence would snick into the camp of soldiers and treat their wounds even when she was forbidden to do so. She would go in with her lantern on her hand to see how the wounded soldiers were. Out of compassion, she risked her life to safe so many soldiers.
During her speech, the school administrator made the campus Florence Nightingale walk around with her lantern as you can see on that picture. It made the lessons sink deep into the minds of the students, helping them know that their being nurses should to assist the ailing ones heal. They should be compassionate and kind to their patients. They need to allow these qualities rise above the money they might make as a result. I was also touched by the presentation. I felt like going back to study nurse.
Yea, I made an attempt last 2 years to go back for this my dream course, I went for the extra lessons, registered for the exams but I didn't pass. Though I was told to try again, after all, I was supposed not to take that one because it was too sudden. On the other hand, I was told to just attempt it and then continiue with the lessons until I seat for it in the subsequent exams. But the fund wasn't there to continue. I had to let it slide. Perhaps my daughter will go for it if she has the opportunity. I still have all my evidences with me. I can't easily let go.
Alright, as the program of the matriculation progressed, it was time to cap the new nurses, that means that they are fully admitted into the school. They were all told to stand up and get their lights ready just like Florence Nightingale. They took their oath, and were capped by the practicing nurses and midwives their.

As soon as the capping was done, they became student nurses and that means that they are now on their way to becoming full nurses and in time, registered nurses. Congratulations to them! And I wish them many blessings and successes on the journey!
Next was to merry. We bossj23 had came with cake to celebrate his sister. She then cut it and we all ate and drank, took pictures
It was after that merriment that we left with my little friend, Doris back to our base. The event took place in Oron LGA in Akwaibom State that is where the Akwaibom State collage of nursing science is. I was so fulfilled that I made out time to attend.
I now know that capping of new nurses are celebrated. It's not somewhat they just picked and wore, they were given the licence to wear it and it should be respected. I love you dear nurses. And congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏👏 once again to my little Steemian friend @dorismos! I pray that you co.e out with flying colours. Please study very hard so that you can succeed. You can read her post here about the celebration.
I personally think I possesse the quality of a nurse, I also have the passion. But it has become an expectation that has been postponed to time indefinite. Well, I can only accept my fate and support those in the profession. Cheers to all the nurses and health practitioners in the world 🌎!
Note that most of the pictures were taken by bossj23 and shared with me. He used my phone to record videos while he also used his phone to take the pictures.
This is my introductory post here

I faded away with it and chose accounting as a course in the polytechnic. But that is in the past now. Just the day I joined my little friend's matriculation I was reminded of this. Very nice post which I found very valuable and great. You are very busy. Read you give us very nice nice posts. Good luck to you
I actually wanted to study direct medicine in the university but as you said, it's in the past now. I made a lot mistakes which I won't advise anyone to in this term life as mistakes as such are difficult to change. Anyways, it's still under medical field. Just the level and promotion is different
🥰🥰🥰
It was with great honour to see you show up despite your busy schedule. The performances by the students involved were a clear evidence of the profession we hold and cherish. Thanks for being part of those who added to my fame and compliments.
