Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "Fresh Vegetables in your area" as part of my participation in this 👉contest organized by @afzalqamar


What are the two most useful fresh vegetables in your area?

In my area, the most useful fresh vegetables are onions and pepper. However, in terms of cooking pepper is often used as a vegetable which is why the majority of people in my area usually classify pepper as be vegetable, whereas few people in my area often classify pepper as a fruit.

These two onions and peppers are the most useful fresh vegetables that can easily get in my area. Both are been sold in the market, even along some streets in my area because both vegetables are needed for cooking. What makes these two vegetables most useful fresh vegetables in my area because anyone who is selling pepper would also be selling onions because both are needed for cooking.

Both in rainy and dry seasons the vegetables are usually fresh because there is no special seasoning for farming them. In my area, there are usually three types of onions (white, yellow, red, or pink) and the white onion is more expensive than the red or pink onion. Also, in my area, we have the following the type of pepper (red (long & short), and green peppers (bell and chili peppers))


How do these vegetables help our health?

Onions and Pepper vegetables offer us several health benefits which we have shared here in this post.

Onions:

  • Onions are rich in antioxidants which contain sulfur and quercetin compounds that help us to reduce inflammation and protect our health from chronic diseases.

  • Onions help us to boost heart health by lowering blood pressure and levels of cholesterol.

  • It helps to support immunity such as antiviral and antibacterial properties that help us to fight infection.

  • Onion helps you aid digestion, and promote gut health.

  • It provides fragments in our food thereby regulating blood sugar levels.

Pepper:

  • Pepper is high in vitamin C which helps us to boost immune function and support our skin health.

  • Pepper helps us to relieve pain, weight management, and metabolism as it contains capsaicin, especially the chili peppers.

  • Pepper supports digestive health and helps us to control our weight

  • Pepper supports eye health, as it contains carotenoids which help us fight eye diseases.

  • Pepper helps us to reduce the risk of having chronic diseases.

Combining pepper and onions in our food is the best form of cooking which by so doing helps us to support our overall health, immunity, and digestion and give our food a better taste.
