Contest alert!//Wound care
Sometimes we can get injuries unknowingly and no one likes to see wounds in his or her body. I don't like to see a single wound in my body because even after the wound has died off the mark would still be left which usually takes time to clear off. I have had wounds before and care for them very well using the approach that I have shared here.
The first thing that I did was to clean the wound with soap and water before I then touched the wound to see how big it was. I used water to rinse the wound under clean, running water that helped me to remove dirt and debris from the wound. After doing that, I used mild soap around the wound. Also, I avoid harsh chemicals like hydrogen peroxide since I haven't met with a dictator yet.
I stop the bleeding by applying gentle pressure with a clean cloth for a few minutes before removing the cloth. However, there was a time I had to use my handkerchief to stop bleeding and I tied the handkerchief at the affected part to cover the wound. At the time I noticed the bleeding persists I elevated the wound above the heart.
I applied an Antiseptic to the wound. I use an over-the-counter antiseptic to prevent infection. Also, antibiotic ointment can help to prevent infection which you can use in the absence of antiseptic.
I do over the wound with a sterile bandage if available but if there is no bandage I do dress to protect it from dirt and bacteria. Also, I do use a nonstick bandage if the wound is larger.
I do change dressings regularly. I usually replace the dressing of my wound daily or anytime it gets wet or dirty. Also in doing so, I monitor the wound for signs of infection swelling, pus, or Increased pain. Keeping the affected area clean and dry is a way for me to care for my wound which I do avoid soaking the wound in water until it has healed.
Finally, I do seek medical help if I notice the wound is deepening, or it is caused by something dirty or rusty I do visit the hospital to seek medical help for proper treatment. Also, eat healthy food that is rich in protein, zinc oxide vitamin C and promotes tissue repair.
