Hepatitis B is the viral infection that effects the liver and is caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV).It causes the inflammation and damage to the liver leading to the serious health problems like cirhosis of liver and liver cancer .It is a major global health concern .Millions of people are infected world wide.
Hepatitis B virus effects the liver cells that are hepatocytes which causes inflammation of liver leading to the damage of liver then the infected liver cells dies due to which liver functions not properly damage causes scaring and fibrosis of liver which leads to the cirhosis of liver and liver cancer.HBV persist in the liver which leads to chronic infection and causes more liver damage

what are the common ways in which hepatitis B is transmitted?

Hepatits B can be transmitted by sharing needles,syringes and other equipments that are infected with blood or recieving infected blood or engaging in unprotected sex with the infected partner. It also has a vertical transmission that is the transmission of infection from infected mother to the child during birth.It can also be transmitted by sharing personal products like razors, tooth brush ,nail clippers that are contaimenated with the infected blood
How does hepatitis B be prevented?

Preventing hepatis B is crutial to avoid its potentially severe consequences.but we can prevent hepatitis B by taking some steps.The most effective way to prevent hepatitis B is through vaccinatio.The vaccine schedulee consists of 2 to 3 doses given at 0. 1 and 6th month.Another ways to prevent hepatitis B is to practice safe sex by using condoms ,use sterile needles to prevent hepatitis B spread by infected blood and properly dispose off needles and health care workers should use gloves while handling blood, and avoid sharing personal products like razors , toothbrushes e.t.c
Pregnant woman should be testes for hepatitis B virus to reduce the risk of vertical transmission and newborns of infected mothers should recieve hepatitis B immunoglobulin vaccine at birth
Avoid tattoing with unsterilized equipments and wash your hands properly after using washrooms and before eating and get screened for hepatitis B if you are at risk.
