What do you know about the eyes allergy?

• My Perspective on "Eyes Allergies"

Eyes allergies, in other words, allergic conjunctivitis, Happen when the eyes react to an allergen known as pollen. Here are some basic things to know about eye allergies:

• Symptoms

1. Itching and burning: Feeling itchy, and burning in the eyes.
2. Redness and swelling: Eyes becomes red and swollen.
3. Excessive tearing: Eyes will produce excess tears when they react to the allergen.
4. Discharge: A thick, yellow, discharge will form in the eyes.

• Causes of these allergies

1. Pollen: Trees and grasses release pollen that triggers eye allergies.
2. Dust mites: Insects that live in bedding and carpets can also trigger eye allergies.
3. Mold: Fungi that live in damp environments can release spores that trigger eye allergies.

Have you ever encountered an eye allergy?

Yes, I have, there was a life in my life when I had an encounter with an eye allergy, I can still remember it vividly, let me tell my readers the story, so it had when I was like 11yrs old then I had an encounter with what we call "Apollo" in Nigeria pidgin, it was the season and then I had no sense of avoidance I should have stayed indoor, the Apollo entered my eyes and I cried my eyes out lol, later that day I start to witness the symptoms, my eyes were red, burning, itching and same time tears was coming out, I tried to hide it from my parents but fortunately for me, they found out and they consulted the doctor which he did some prescription.

That night, I found it difficult to sleep comfortably because if I tried closing my eyes, it burned; the next I didn't go to school; after school, my friends came around to check on me, and guess what? All they could do was laugh at me my facial look changed eyes looked like someone had taken marijuana, and I laughed at my look funny bruh, nevertheless thou that experience then was tough, and reminiscing about it now is funny, that's how life is this, I'm happy to share my own experience on eyes allergies with you guys, and I'm ngl I have learned a lot from this contest questions when doing my research and even beyond, I know that if I will experience it again which I pray not too, I will know how to handle the situation, always remember "Prevention Is Better Than Cure"

How can you cure an eye allergy?

• Treatment

1. Avoidance: Avoid exposure to the allergen.
2. Medications: Antihistamines, decongestants, and mast cell stabilizers can help alleviate symptoms.
3. Eye drops: Eye drops can help relief from itching, redness, and swelling.
4. Immunotherapy: Immunotherapy helps desensitize the eyes to specific allergens.

Do well to consult with a healthcare professional or an eye care specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
