Health Matters; NOISE POLLUTION
Hello friends, how are you all doing today, hope that you people will be fine and doing great in life. @sahmie organized a contest about healthy life; how to take care of of health away from pollution.
"Pollution"
- There are various forms of pollution, Air pollution, land pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.
"Noise Pollution"
Noise Pollution is a type of pollution which is assigned with hearing, noise pollution is created with other things. Working on sites and engines creates noise mostly. Noise is created with other things, we can say that the pollutants are other things and they creates noise pollution. e.g. An engines creates CO2 into the air and the sound which it creates can be noted as noise pollution.
Q: What are some common sources of noise pollution in your area, and how do they affect your daily life?
Mostly, in our area people are using speakers; it creates a lot of noise pollution. Moreover, I am living near to main road, so the traffic here is very high and creates noises. Minimum 100 to 150 vehicles passes by this road in 1 minute. It is a main road with 4 lanes so the traffic is huge and the road is connected to under passes without traffic lights so many people use this road.
Moreover, construction sites are creating noises. new buildings and houses are building in commercial areas which contributes and promotes noise pollution.
I am disturbed with speakers which are used to play songs, I am living in a hostel, in a building where songs played with speakers will disturb you when you are doing important work, like studying and doing assignments, also it will disturb your sleep.
Q: How do you think noise pollution impacts our health and well-being in the long run?
- I will talk about myself that how it impacted on my body. I was riding my bike in a traffic, I ride it for about 30 to 40 minutes and came back to my hostel. My head was having pain after few minutes, the noise on the road created stress into my head and affected me badly.
- Noise will dull your ears because you are hearing voice beyond your normal days and out of the box.
Q: What are some effective ways to reduce noise pollution in urban areas? Can you think of any creative solutions?
- The most created noises from urban areas are created from traffic and construction sites. Construction cannot be reduced or shifted to other places but we can have control on traffic noise. Restrictions on speeding near societies or where buildings are located. Other measures, like, installing mirrors to stop voices to disturb people.
- Shifting huge vehicles to other routes away from city side, creating new roads so that large vehicles ca drive on that roads and covers their mileage. This will bring a huge change in the noisy things because large lorries and tractors creates noises.
Q: If you could design a quiet zone in your community, what features would it have, and why?
I will first invest money into specific routes for traffic to control it and create specific routes for huge vehicles. Buses, lorries and tractors like vehicle will travel on other routes. I will limit speed in commercial areas, like where the population is more. I will promote electric vehicles because it doesn't create noise. Moreover, flyover can reduce noises, flyovers are located above roads which limits are noise in lower areas.
Q: How do you think technology can help us combat noise pollution in the future?
- Technology, like electric vehicles helps in reducing noise. In Peshawar city, BRT (Bus rapid transit) which is named as ZU Peshawar; they uses electric buses which doesn't create noise. Its engine is silent and doesn't create a lot of noise. So, technology can contribute in limiting noise. Hybrid vehicles can help to reduce noise of the vehicles. New machines introduction into the construction site can help in reducing sound.
