Share your knowledge about tension headaches, their symptoms, causes and treatment!
Tension headaches to me are the most common types of headaches. I tend to have them a lot.
Symptoms
It is a squeezing dull and aching sensation around the head, followed by a feeling of pressure or tightness and a mild or moderate pain in the neck and scalp and an inability to concentrate.
Causes of tension headaches
Tension headaches are caused by some factors which includes:
. Lack of sleep: For those who work a lot, sleeping may be out of their schedule and this can lead to tension headaches. Having little or no rest, especially at night, can be really dangerous. Sleeping late and waking up early can also cause this sensation around the head accompanied with a feeling of severe tiredness or body weakness.
. Eye strain: Staring at the computer screen or even mobile phones for longer periods of time can cause tension headaches and I'm talking about myself here..lol. I work with my mobile phone a lot during the day and I tend to have tension headaches over a long period of time. I lose concentration and then I'm forced to stop whatever I was doing and just close my eyes for a few minutes or better still go for a walk around the house or streets to relieve the tension.
. Poor posture: Poor posture puts extra tension on the muscles in the neck and scalp and causes tension headaches. Those working with their laptops from home or at work should invest in chairs that have a support for the head. This can reduce tension easily when it comes during the course of work.
. Stress or anxiety: Anxiety over a situation, or feeling stressed over a long day's work can definitely cause tension headaches. When a person worries excessively over life, the future or some occurrence, it is really easy to have this headache. So care should be taken to avoid worrying excessively.
Treatment for tension headaches
.Strike a balance between work and rest. Avoid excessive use of phones and laptops.
.Get enough sleep, sleep early and wake up early.
.Invest in chairs that have support for the head to ensure some rest in-between work.
.Worry less. Don't worry over things you have no control over. Instead of worrying and getting anxious, strike a detailed action plan and work toward it.
.I wouldn't want to prescribe medication since I'm not qualified so I suggest one should eat healthy, drink enough water, eat fruits and vegetables, drink blended fruits and exercise often.
Share your personal experience of how often you feel tension headaches in a month!
Well,I have tension headaches often in a month and the reason is the remote work I do from home using my mobile device. I look at the screen for hours and then I have what I call digital eye strain. Immediately my eyes start developing this uncomfortable feeling, I get restless and then I find it extremely difficult to concentrate. The only way to stop this when it happens is to get off the site, turn off my device and just sleep or close my eyes for a while, I may also decide to go for a walk, catch some air and do other things that do not involve the screen. I also try to manage my screen time and schedule my work so as to have this balance and take care of my health. I have also considered buying blue light glasses and eye care lenses to safeguard my eyes.

Hola, hola!!
Muchas Bendiciones..🙏🏻
