Share your knowledge about tension headache, their symptoms, causes and treatment!

Tension headaches are the most common type of headache that affects people of different ages. Sometimes we feel like there's pressure on every side of our head. When this occurs, there will be pain and discomfort in the head and neck. Tension headaches can be chronic and severe. We can use home remedies to treat this condition, but if symptoms persist after 2 days, you should visit healthcare providers for proper treatment. Tension headaches can also lead to migraines. Maybe you do not have enough time to rest your brain, although it is not associated with mental illness.

Symptoms

The symptoms of tension headaches include the following:

• Tight neck or shoulder pain may occur on the left or right side, particularly for people who sit for long periods doing office work.

• Hurting on both sides of the head is one of the symptoms adults may experience.

• Light and sound sensitivity are other symptoms that can lead to headaches.

• Feeling like something is squeezing in the middle of the head and other similar symptoms may also be present.

Causes

Any activities that stay on one side in our head for a long time without disappearing can result in tension headaches. Some of these activities include continued use of a laptop or computer, sleeping in an abnormal position that strains your neck, or too much work in the office, which can cause tension headaches.

Other causes that can also trigger tension headaches are:

• Cold: This occurs when you have catarrh. At that moment, you will experience fever and pain in your head simultaneously.

• Eye strain: Staring at a television screen or a computer for a long time, and sometimes infection, can trigger tension headaches.

• Smoking: Excessive smoking can lead to headaches. Nicotine, one of the major components of cigarettes, can contribute to this health condition.

• Caffeine: This usually happens to people who consume it daily because their body becomes reliant on it, resulting in tension headache.

  2. Stay away from something that can triggers tension headache like lack of sleep and stress.

  3. Take your prescribed medicine at the right time. And also find time to rest in a dark area without any disturbance from occuring.

  4. Eat quality food to help you improve your overall well-being. These food must taking at appropriate time without skipping them.

Share your personal experience that how often you feel tension headache in a month!

I remember experiencing tension headaches during my undergraduate studies while studying for exams. This health condition continued to affect me greatly, to the extent that it almost cost me my life. I later realized that too much stress and lack of sleep were the major causes of tension headaches. This led to me developing malaria and other illnesses. I eventually visited the hospital, where doctors prescribed medication that helped cure my sickness.

Conclusion

It's very important to avoid anything that can distract our attention from taking care of our health. We must have enough time to sleep in order to regain our energy. I would like to invite @bonaventure24, @solaymann and @entity01 to participate in this contest.
