Curator Cat on Caturday: The New Kittens Have Settled In!
Greetings, Fine Felines and Hoomans of Steemlandia!
I hope the weekend has treated you well, and that you are enjoying your Saturday. Of course, Saturday means Caturday, that special day of the week when we share out cat photos with the world!
Shangri and Nala
Our new kittens — Shangri and Nala — have now been with us for almost three weeks, and they have settled into our routine quite well.
At this point, they have the run of the top half of the house — our lower level has a lot of storage and mess, and too many hidey holes for the time being. But that's OK, they are quite happy exploring the world of the upper level!
Layered cats!
I have settled into my role as "Uncle Shadow" to these youngsters, but sometimes I just have to retreat to the relative peace of the Dad-Hooman's office on the lower level.
The kittens are very sweet natured, though, and all our relations have been very gentle and sweet, so far. The Hoomans are very happy about that part, because getting new cats together is not always an easy thing!
There's always competition for the cat toys!
The Hoomans' primary concern has been whether Shangri and Nala would be able to get past their nervousness and shyness, as a result of them having been born to a a semi-feral barn cat.
So far, they seem to have relaxed very well into their surroundings. They don't much care for loud noise and sudden movements, but they no longer try to hide anytime they see movement.
House meeting in the hallway!
Interactions with our senior citizen cat Smudge have been somewhat limited at this point... although the sniffing and nose-touching through the baby gate has been quite peaceful.
All in all, we're all delighted and relieved that these little cats are as gentle and sweet natured as they are turning out to be!
Smudge, watching the proceedings from a distance
In time, we feel sure they will also integrate well with Smudge, as long as they don't overwhelm her with too much bouncy kitten energy.
It's nice to have more cats in the house, once again. The Hoomans have pretty much always had between three and five cats (up to 15, when there were kittens born!) and with Smudge being as old as she is (closing in on 20) it was time for some new energy!
Nala, posing prettily!
And that's about all we have to offer for this week's update!
Keeping an eye on the Crypto world, as always... and it's definitely nice to see Bitcoin get back to $60,000... however, the real question now is whether the Alt coins will follow?
Thanks for coming to visit our cat blog, and we hope to see you again soon! Have a wonderful Sunday!
