You Deserve a Hug

Let me begin with answering her questions one by one.

What does a hug mean to you?

A hug in my opinion is a physical show of affection, support, appreciation, et cetera, however small. It is also a form of intimacy.

What is that hug that they gave you that you will always remember?

The hug my elder sister gave me the morning of 13th March, 2023. It was the day she traveled to Lagos, a state located in Southwestern Nigeria while I reside at Akwa Ibom, a state located in South-South Nigeria. I haven't seen her physically since then.

Since when has it been since you gave a hug?

Well, I could say yesterday was that day. Friday is the last day of the week so when it arrives, I love to say my goodbyes properly, to my besties. I hugged Glory and Nduke, my two close friends on 24th January, 2025.

How much do you like to hug?

Not often, just on rare occasions where reunion will take enough time.

Do you think there are times in life when you should talk less and hug more?

I sure do. One moment is when someone did something wrong or made a mistake in his/her life and it has backfired and is causing tears. In such a situation, talking or dumping blames on the person won't do any good. Rather, a good catcher hug will better reassure the person. It will communicate positive feelings to the person, without a single utterance. It'll provide comfort. That's miles away from the hurtful impact of scolding words.

◾Classic Hug: Like in the picture above, a classic Hug is a goodbye or reunion hug of slightly intimate and very hearty nature. It usually occurs between friends and family.

◾ Hug at the waist or from behind: This specifically happens between lovers. It is romantic, signals intimacy, and is a sign of trust.
◾ Quick hugs: Common at social gatherings. Upper bodies may touch but lower bodies won't.
◾ Patting hug: Signifies warmth and comfort among friends. Intimate hug between close friends.
◾ Unreciprocated hug: Only one person does the hugging. It is cold and unwanted.
