Food poisoning is a condition where human gets afflicted due to intake of contaminated food and or drinks by pathogenic agents as bacteria, virus or toxic enzymes.. It is similar to an unwanted guest who when sneaks in through a social meal then becomes a nuisance to the body. The said contamination arises from raw foods being underprepared, storage conditions, or preparation procedures.It then multiplies and spreads into the digestive system and thus the human body turns a meal into an undesirable affair.

As far my knowledge, the signs of food poisoning differ from some sort of diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pains, as in some cases, fever. All these symptoms can develop few hours after ingesting food that is contaminated with the bacteria or may take up to two days. The worst effects could be dehydration and weakness, if one has lost considerable amount of body fluid via vomiting or diarrhea.
However, there are some important measures I think should be undertaken in order to prevent food poisoning to happen. First, one should always wash hands, utensils and the different surfaces used, to help eliminate the bacteria. Wash raw produce and cook foods especially the meats hot enough to eliminate dangerous microorganisms and store foods high perish ability at low temperatures immediately. Do not eat foods that are beyond their best before date and exercise care when taking raw meals such as eggs or seafood. If we follow these tips, the incidence of food poisoning should decline and everyone can have delicious food.

As for me, I can speak about food safety in one thought: it is safe when it has been stored properly and then properly cooked. Correct food preparation, good temperatures, and good quality food handling procedures are critical. Preparing food is done with the right temperature that eradicates any harm bacteria that could lead to food poisoning. Also, seeing if there’s something wrong with the smells, color or texture of the food is an important step. By adopting these steps one can be ensured that the rate of food poisoning is reduced, and what one is taking is safe.
