Contest | "Protection from evil 's eye"
I strongly believe in the evil eye. I grew up in Brown culture where people blame every harm that comes their way on the evil eye.
I do believe it exists. But some harms are the consequence of our actions.
However, if you have taken all the precautionary measures and still harm comes your way then it could be evil eye or nazar.
Take it this way
When anyone looks at you with love and kindness you blush and smile back automatically. Their gaze on you circulates blood in your body. You feel comfortable with their eyes on you.

You must have seen some brides become prettier if they find a partner who looks at them with love.
The same way some people set their eyes on you, which are full of hatred, envy, and jealousy.
It makes you uncomfortable. Even if you don't know who is seeing you, you become conscious and look around.
This is the power of eyes whether evil eye or lover's eye.
I remember I fell ill when I came back home from the university after getting admitted to MSC.
Before leaving my house I felt the eyes of someone( I can't name here) who was wearing a frown on his forehead while watching me sitting in the car.
I was the first child (and a girl) of the family who was going to the university for education. My siblings and cousins followed my path but I sat at it first.
Our car started troubling during the journey.
When I came back home I had a headache and felt vomit. I couldn't eat anything.
My mother burnt 7 red chilies after casting off evil from my head. She said chilies didn't smell which means it was an evil eye.
Though I don't believe in such cures our ancestors did and still do.
Brown parents reach their extreme potential to protect their children from evil eyes, especially when they are babies.
When babies are born they put talismans, and amulets, and apply black spots on their forehead or apply Surma/kajal in their eyes.
They make sure that no stranger or suspicious person, especially a woman enters the house and sees their baby. We have one such lady from whom ww fear to get evil eye.
Some parents forbid their children to not take anything to eat from strangers, suspicious persons, and family members who are not on good terms with them.
If a baby gets an evil eye Some people tie a black thread around their arms and ankles. And you know who tie this thread?
Another child, who has both of their grandparents from the paternal and maternal side alive. Isn't it strange?
Some people give sadaqah of an egg after casting off evil from their child's head. Or they keep an egg near their head or under their bed at night. They throw it the next day in the deserted place where no one goes usually.
Honestly, these things are superstitions which are common in India and Pakistan.
The strange thing is people get cured following these preventive measures.
However, my religion is simple, it doesn't teach all these cures, they are more of a cultural thing.
Any talismans, superstitions, and any kind of jhar phoonk have no reality in Islam.
*In our religion, we are asked to say Ma sha Allah or Barik Allah when we see something beautiful or anyone's success. *
Another cure is to recite the last three surahs of the Quran three times twice a day, in the morning and the evening, and blow it all over the victim's body.
Because the evil eye is real
"The influence of an evil eye is a fact..." [Sahih Muslim, Book 26, Number 5427].
Parents forget one thing babies often get nazar/evil eye from their loved ones. That's why it's said to not look for long at someone who is looking beautiful.
I have seen my ancestors averting their eyes from their kids when they saw them looking beautiful or grown up. They would say:
Kahi Meri Hi nazar na lag jaye
However, some parents go overboard while protecting their children. They start going to Amil baba / Aka sarkar/peer sahab to know if their child is possessed when their child shows tantrums like anger or stubbornness, or if a child suddenly falls ill.
It's so irritating sometimes no matter how educated they become, the evil eye is their pain point and they start practicing backward rituals.
Last week I saw my cousin's son who was wearing an amulet. On inquiring they told me that he had become very stubborn lately. So it's to fix him.
He is the only son of their parents and family. They have spoiled him in every possible manner.
Now when he shows them the consequence of their upbringing, they say oh it's nazar.
Ammm...
Sudden financial loss, deteriorating health, anger issues, mental issues, and social withdrawal are some consequences of the evil eye.
It varies from person to person.
One of our neighbours have built their new house and they have placed a hamsa amulet/ a sign of a hand on their rooftop in order to avoid evil eye.
Evil eye is real but not anyone can harm you, except if it is written in your fate.
I have read somewhere that those who have strong souls don't easily get evil eye and procession.
If you have a void in your soul in the form of anxiety and depression, these things become easy for you to get.
Let me tell you the story of one of our relatives.
One day she heard a knock on the door, and when she opened it she found a man selling the Quran.
She said we already have it. But the man insisted and asked her to listen to him for a moment.
He told her that you and your house are under the influence of evil eyes. I can see it on your face, those dark patches are the symbol.
He told her about the conditions in their house like how their finances started to suffer suddenly and how their kids are suffering in their education.
She was stunned to hear the facts. No one knew these things about them rest assured a stranger would know it.
So she bought a Quran from him and placed it in the mosque to get a reward when anyone would read it.
She did also her treatment using Berry leaves dipped in water, on which she read some surahs and ayahs which are related to evil eye and possession.
Her whole family drank the water and also took a bath from that water.
Also, we have been advised to recite Surah Bakarah daily in our houses. It protects from harm, evil, and witchcraft, and Shaitan doesn't enter that house.
Abu Umamah al-Bahili said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Read Surat al-Baqarah, for reciting it regularly is a blessing and forsaking it is a cause of regret, and the magicians cannot withstand it.” Narrated by Muslim (804).
Note: everything written in this post is my cultural and religious point of view. Any cure mentioned is not to hurt anyone's stance or to imposed it on others.

Evil eye, the word itself I got familiar with when I started watching Zee world, it is an Indian channel, when I went to visit my parents, it was my mom's evening channel. So I hear evil eye over and over again. The funny part is when I was younger you will hear kids say, don't look at me with bad eye and get angry when others look at them in a weird way. I really love reading about your culture, as it always reminds me of my short time in the north.
If anyone constantly sees us while we are eating we say, Laga do Nazar or are you willing to set evil eyes on me?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 then one should learn not to overlook at someone so they don't guess his intention to be casting of evil eye
HahahahahaahahhaaHhahaha exactly
