Good day cohort steemians, hope you are all doing well, I welcome you all once again to my blog. Garri is a general food for a large number of persons In Nigeria, this post is to highlight the processes of garri making, in my community situated in Bayelsa State Nigeria. below are the various subheadings.
Before garri can be produced, the process of cassava stem planting will take place. moreso before the cassava stems are planted a piece of land have to be cleared, prepared very well then the cassava stems can be planted. after the planting the farm have to be taking care of, weeding of the grasses. This cassava stems after 8 months to a year the cassava stems will grow up to cassava tubers ready for harvesting.
After eight months to one year of planting, the cassava tubers will be ready for harvesting. you have to go to the farm clear it cut down the cassava stems, then the cassava tubers can be uprooted from the ground, the cassava stems can be used for another planting season.
This process is very essential, the cassava tubers have to be pearled, this process is stressful it takes some hours to do this depending on the quantity of the cassava tubers harvested. After the pearling the next stage is the washing of the cassava tubers then grinding follows.
This process is also important, the grinded cassava has to be dried becuase there is water in it. there are many ways of drying up the grinded cassava, but the one we used is a local method using sticks and a rice bag.
This is the final process and one of the most important processes, sheaving the grinded dried cassava is very important because is a process of separating shafts from the raw garri. After which the frying process takes place. The frying materials are as follows, a metal pot, turning stick, fire wood used as the heat energy.
Am very glad for been part of the garri making, most people just eat garri not knowing how it was processed. I hope you all enjoyed reading the post, I want to use this opportunity to say a big thanks to @steemit, @steemalive community and my mentors @kingreechy @peterabagi and @focusnow for their support.
Ohh my God, this your way of drying your cassava water has reminded me of the past. One funny thing is that, attimes, if the rope cut, one must hit his or her bombom on the floor. I enjoyed it then
Funny you.you are welcome
