Shaping Minds, Touching Hearts ; Happy Teacher's Day

Are you a teacher? Gather here let's celebrate. If you say you are not, gather here as well. Do I need to remind you that everyone is a teacher but not all are certified, whether you are certified or uncertified, as the certificate will always segregate us, be reminded that you are a teacher, and in one way or another you have inculcated some morals to that fellow who is now doing well in life or to that fellow who is now excelling in a profession. Is it because you have not hosted inaugural lectures like the professors in different educational facets that made you think less of yourself? I celebrate you once again, I mean the teachers.

Today is Saturday and not a school day. If not, it would have been a public holiday, a suspension of all duties to celebrate teachers; even with that, it has been declared a public holiday; if you are working for the government, you are free to stay at home. It is an honour for the teachers. In case you haven't still gotten my point reading to this end, I want to let you know that here in Nigeria it is Saturday, the 5th of October, and it is a remarkable day, set aside for the celebration of the elites, the givers of the light, the teachers. It is International Teachers Day(all over the world).

Come on, celebrate your ward's second parent, those who have been there for them. Some parents are so busy with work that they find less time to spend with their kids, but most of your kids find our companionship with us so satiable. I remember a child telling me some time ago that her teacher has always told him not to collect things from strangers. So you can see these children are so much built on the information provided by the teachers, and if it was possible to spoil them, they would have done that, but their role is to be role models students would emulate and also impact their knowledge-wise.

In my place of primary assignment, I made a lot of friends as a student teacher; the kids were always around me, and I was fun of cracking jokes and twisting their brains by giving them classwork each time I heard a noise in the classroom. I was an inquisitive one, always wanting to know their problems; the kids loved me and wished I was adopted by the government. One of them even asked me why I would be leaving them soon. I told him I was a student teacher, and he asked me if I would come back to teach them when I graduated, and I said it is not in my place to make that decision but God and life's fate.

What I am saying in essence is that teachers have a pivotal role to play in the life of a child, parents, and society at large, so if you have a chance, appreciate that handsome and beautiful teacher who has always been there for your child, updating you daily, weekly, or termly on your child's performance academically, and if you are that person, celebrate yourself. A big shout out to all teachers out there🎉.
