Application for the 23rd season of Steemit Learning Challenge - Mini Research
After three seasons of 19, 21, and 22 of being part of a teaching team that provides teacher courses, I am personally increasingly concerned about participant posts written by AI. The increasing use of AI makes us have to be more careful in order to provide fair assessments. In addition, extra effort is needed to present evidence that can be accounted for.
Now, it's time to move to the Steemit Learning Club, which focuses on practical activities and field practice. Nonetheless, I will still maintain the big themes around education and teaching. Through this post, I am volunteering to be part of the Steemit Learning Club, with the main focus on practical activities, namely the Mini Research.
We have piloted Mini Research in a previous challenge in Season 21, Week 5 of #teaching21w5, you can see the challenge in the link below. We were very happy with the results, as all participants successfully carried out the mini research activity with their students as well as the hands-on field practice.
💁♂️ Mini Research
Mini Research is a simple research activity that aims to understand, examine, describe, and find solutions to problems and issues that occur in the world of education. The main focus of this research is to explore the various aspects that influence the teaching and learning process and the dynamics that occur in the educational context.
In the 23rd Season of the Steemit Learning Challenge, I plan to encourage participants to conduct research that involves hands-on practice in the field. Participants will be directed to interact with relevant resource persons to gather more data and information. This research will utilize a qualitative approach, allowing participants to gain deeper insights into the educational phenomenon they are researching.
In addition, we hope that the results of this research can make a positive contribution to the development of science and the improvement of the quality of education.

💁♂️ Planned mini-research topics
The mini research topics that will be developed in season 23 are as follows:
1. Free Lunch Program
The Indonesian government recently planned to launch a free lunch program for all students in 439,784 schools, both in urban and rural areas. However, the implementation of this program faces various challenges, including high costs, logistics, availability of raw materials, and other operational aspects. To ensure this program can run effectively every day, we invite you to help find the right strategies and solutions, especially in the implementation of an educational institution, here are the steps that can be taken:
- Conduct interviews with several parties directly involved in the management of education in your country, such as principals, teachers, or education officials.
- Use the interview guidelines we have provided and describe the findings from the interviews.
- Documentation in the form of photos and videos is required
2. Duration of student learning hours
The duration of students' learning hours in different countries varies depending on the curriculum set by their respective governments. We want to find out whether the prescribed duration of study hours is ideal for students and whether significantly longer study hours can actually improve their intelligence. Through this research, we can gain a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of students' study duration and find the best approach in designing an optimal learning system. To answer this question, we invite you to conduct a research with the following steps:
- Conduct interviews with several parties directly involved in the management of education in your country, such as principals, teachers, or education officials.
- Observe students' learning activities especially during the last hour, explain your observations?
- Use the interview guidelines we have provided and describe the findings from the interviews.
- Documentation in the form of photos and videos is required
3. Testing the AI detector
The increasing use of AI on the Steemit platform has become a serious challenge. In fact, some advanced AI tools now have undetectable modes, making it increasingly difficult for teachers to verify the authenticity of student assignments and provide fair grading. This challenge affects not only education but also many parties, such as teaching teams, community moderators, curator teams, and others in identifying and confirming whether a post is actually created by a human or AI. To better understand and find solutions to this problem, conduct the following research:
- Name three AI detection tools that you think are the most accurate and reliable.
- Test them by creating text using AI that has a human-like writing style. Paste the text into each tool, test it multiple times, and describe the results in detail.
- Analyze and explain how to detect AI content that uses undetectable mode. Mention the significant difference compared to the text written by humans.
4. Public or Private School
Public schools are educational institutions managed directly by the government, while private schools are managed by individuals or groups. We would like to invite you to research the public interest and trust in these two types of schools to understand the significant differences between public and private schools in your country. This research aims to find out whether both types of schools have implemented quality education processes and what factors influence people's perceptions in choosing educational institutions for their children. Through this research, we can gain a deeper insight into the advantages of each school.
- Meet some parents who send their children to public schools, conduct in-depth interviews about the reasons for choosing public schools? Interview guidelines provided
- Meet some parents who send their children to private schools, conduct in-depth interviews on the reasons for choosing private schools? Interview guidelines are provided.
- Documentation in the form of photos and videos is required
5. Teacher Welfare
The teaching profession is a budding profession, but in some places it is still undervalued, both in terms of recognition and welfare, including the low salaries received by teachers. Through this research, we will examine whether teachers in your country are better off.
- Meet some of the people who work as teachers in your country and conduct in-depth interviews using the interview guidelines we have provided.
- Documentation in the form of photos and videos is required
6. Favorite Lesson
Ideally students have a favorite subject that they like and are passionate about, but what makes them like that subject is an interesting factor to study, could it be that the teacher's personality and teaching methods are the main factors for students to like a subject.
- Meet a few students in your country and conduct in-depth interviews using the interview guidelines we have provided.
- Photo and video documentation required
✅ Inspection
If I am entrusted with this task, I will strictly check each content by using premium tools that I have tested before that are able to catch all AI-created or plagiarized posts. The tools are as follows:
Plagiarism: Smallseotools and Duplicheker
AI content: GPTZero.me, Quillbot, and Isgen.ai
In addition to using various detection tools, I will also thoroughly read the content and insights contained in a post. If I suspect that a post is likely to be created by an AI in an undetectable fashion, I will perform repeated checks.
I will also test each paragraph suspected of being written by AI by reverse testing or asking the AI directly. In addition, my knowledge and experience in education is my main weapon in distinguishing between posts that contain general insights and specialized insights.
Best of luck my friend ❤️
