Between Theory and Practice
Hi Steemians, how are you today? I hope we are all happy and healthy. Don't forget to be grateful for every breath we still feel until now. Okay, back with @dederanggayoni who is so happy to be in this good Teachers & Students Community. A community where teachers and students support each other, share stories and experiences, as well as information, knowledge about teachers and students.
This time I really want to share my experience with you, friends of Teachers & Students, regarding theory and practice. As a Natural Sciences teacher for Junior High School level, I often practice in my subject. Before practicing, I have to give the theory lesson first. After providing the basic knowledge with understanding and clarity to the students, then I practice to strengthen the theory. That's my learning model every day.
In my opinion, theory and practice must go hand in hand or together. Theory can be defined as a learning activity process in understanding the contents of a text from a science quoted in a book. In my opinion, theory is just a teaching and learning activity in class that is delivered to students by understanding the contents of the book or the teacher's explanation.
So as a good teacher, he must master the material that will be delivered to all his students. While in practice, what we must understand is a learning activity that is directly to the object itself. Practice can also occur directly in the field or laboratory and produce something called "data". So in practice we can observe, we can see, we can assess and we can feel the results. Is the practice we do in accordance with the theory or not.

In other words, theory is the result of data analysis in experiments or practices that have been carried out. Theories emerge from the results of experiments or practices that have been proven and tested for their truth. While in experimental or practical activities, we actually only prove what is explained in previous or earlier theories.
When I do the learning process in class, I usually always prioritize theory first. I provide material reinforcement to all students until my students understand and comprehend. After that, I start the practice according to the previous material that has been taught. Students are taught to be skilled in working in their respective groups.
The next addition after students understand the theory and are skilled at conducting experiments and practices well. That's where students increasingly understand the material from the theory they are studying. That's where students will understand the relationship between theory and practice. And can understand more deeply about the knowledge they are studying.

During my teaching in my subject, namely Natural Sciences, my students are always very enthusiastic about following my lessons. This is because I am not always monotonous only to theory. I always try to provide interesting methods for my students' learning. And my students do prefer active learning methods and they have such a great curiosity that by practicing or doing experiments they can finally answer all their curiosity and curiosity.
So it is certain that students understand faster and like the active learning process, can answer their curiosity and can follow the lesson happily without feeling bored. Teacher competence in the learning process must be improved, do not only provide theory, practice without practice and experiments that activate students.
There are many advantages that students get in practical learning such as, students can directly apply the theory given by the teacher, then students can also trust the theory given to them which of course can understand it better. In addition, student skills will increase or be higher than what has been learned from the theory delivered by the teacher by practicing.

That's my sharing today, hopefully it will be useful for us as educators or teachers who always try to give the best for their students. Thank you for the Steemians who are willing to stop by my post, I look forward to your criticism and suggestions for my progress, See you.
Warm Regard

I'm sure the students prefer practical lessons to theoretical ones, as evidenced by their happy smiles when pouring water into the glass tubes. Behind that, theory is the basis of knowledge that must also be mastered, the challenge is how to cultivate reading interest from students to create a strong understanding.
As we know that our children prefer to watch videos rather than read texts, I think it is necessary to publish a digital textbook that contains videos to support the explanation, what do you think?
First, I would like to say thank you very much for the verification. Second, all your words are correct and your suggestions are the best. The point is, today's teachers must be technology literate, not technologically illiterate in the current generation z era.
