It is very important that a teacher knows and understands the characteristics of each of her students. Humans have different characteristics and these characteristics can be displayed by how eager they are to learn in class, how well they contribute to the group or class activities. They can even exhibit this character by how they relate with their follow students and to you the teacher. This characteristic varies, the character of one child might not be the same with the character of the other child, so it is very important that a teacher understands very well the characteristics of every child he/she is teaching

A teacher can understand and have knowledge about the characteristics of his/her students through

•Observation: A good teacher must be a good observer. Observe their daily routine, their moods, their eagerness to learn and interact. I once had a student that was very active, but in few days, I observed the child was now very moody and withdrawing and this was affecting his performance in class. when I questioned him about it, he told me his Pet(Dog) died. I was able to pacify him and he was happy again.

•Communication: Communicate with the students. Through communication, you will be able to know if this student is fine or not, if he is an introvert or an extrovert. In communication, the students tend to express their needs, feelings and desire.

•Self introductory Program: from the lesson, I found out a website for this link. Although this program is not for younger children and might not be 100% accurate.

The characteristics of a students can be classified under
•Cognitive Aspect: Here, the teacher understands that every child has a unique pattern of learning and assimilation. Not every student understands immediately the teacher finishes teaching. Some take much more teaching and repetition meanwhile another can understand immediately the lesson is being taught.
If a teacher understands that no two child has the same intellectual capacity, she will be able to carry all the students along and not leave anyone lagging behind.

•Emotional Aspect: This talks about a student's ability to handle and manage their emotions properly, whether negative emotions or positive. Example can be a child who is always crying when faced with a difficult academic task , this is in the negative. A positive emotion can be a naturally happy and active child.

• Social Aspect: This talks about a child's social/interactive life. Some child are quite while some are very active. Some children are built to easily make friends while others might not

•Physical Aspect: This talks about the students physical build up, they may be taller, shorter, darker, Skinner etc

•Spiritual Aspect: This talks about morals, culture and respect for elders and everyone around them

Invite one of your students, your friends, or anyone else to try 1 method of recognizing student characteristics, according to the examples in the material. And tell us the results of observing the characteristics of your student.

This is a student from my class, her name is Ella. She is 7 years old and I will be using her as a case study for this.
IMG_20220312_144155_918.jpg
I will be using the methods I mentioned in my question 1 to identify and recognise her characteristics.

• Recognizing Characteristics Through Observation: I have been Ella's tutor for only few months now and as an observant teacher, I found out that Ella is a lively active and lively child. You will never see her being dull nor dormant. She is an outgoing student and she finds it very easy to make friends due to her lovely personality. Another observation I found out was that She loves art. She enjoys drawing, colouring, singing, photography, dancing and everything that deals with art. She expresses herself more when it comes to art than science subjects. To add to my list of observation, she is a picky and slow eater. She takes a long time eating her food and will often discard veggies.

• Recognizing Characteristics Through Communication: Since I am a teacher, communication is inevitable. It is very essential to recognise distinctive characteristics of the students. During my communication with Ella, I discovered she is the last child from a family of 8, this number of people in the house also made her lively and outgoing. During our communication, I found out her hobby, interest and passion.

•Recognizing Characteristics Through Self Introductory Program: I passed her through the self Introductory Program and after answering the provided questions from the information I got from her through my observation and our constant communication, I found out her personality type was a "campaigner"
People with this personality type are free spirited and outgoing, openhearted and minded. They have a lively approach to life and are always positive. These personalities are sponsored by their intense desire for meaningful, emotional connections with others.

According to you. Providing questions, tasks, or projects that require critical thinking and in-depth analysis, more suitable to be given to students who have the ability of which characteristic category? Give us an explanation of this

Providing questions, task or projects that require critical thinking and in depth analysis will be more suitable to be given to a student with a high/advanced cognitive Ability

They can be categorised as HOT (Higher Order Thinking) Skills.
This skill involves a complex and higher cognitive process that facilitates a student's ability to analyse, evaluate and even create new knowledge to solving a problem.

They are able to analyse complex information by breaking down into easily understood version. They also combine their existing knowledge to create solutions

Students with this advanced level of cognitive ability has the ability to think critically and solve complex problems, they can analyse information, synthesis it to create the solution to a problem

According to you. When a student feels depressed or anxious, especially in an evaluation situation. What category of characteristics does such a student belong to? Explain your answer and how to solve it.

When a student feels depressed or anxious, especially in an evaluation situation, this characteristic will be categorised as having Emotional Characteristics.
Remember in question 1, I explained that the emotional characteristics can be positive or negative. This is a negative emotional characteristics.

Here, the student is emotionally sensitive and vulnerable. They may develop vulnerability to failure, disappointments and criticism. Students with this conduction may experience a meltdown in stressful situations like evaluation. This can lead the student to depression and anxiety.

As the teacher, the solutions I will offer are
•To create a learning environment that is supportive, non judgmental and non-threatening. This will reduce the chances of emotional sensitivity and vulnerability

•Offer alternative assessment methods like oral presentation and written presentation. The students who are highly introverted and emotionally sensitive can go for the written presentation

•Allow and encourage the students to be more expressive and open about their fears, triggers and concerns

•Teach the students relaxation methods like taking deep breathe, visualisation and mindfulness

Thank you for reading through my post

This is a more detailed judge to the concept.

Truly you're a teacher and really knows the concept very well.
In order for a teacher to know his/her very well, the teacher must be a good observer, possess great communication skills and the likes which you've mentioned.

looking at your examining work with Ella, It truly shows how bond and attentive you're to your students. Recognizing how smart and sound she's is amiable.

good luck 🤞 on the challenge.
