RE: Spotted: Gossip Girl Fails to Impress—Not so Classy Afterall

in Netflix & Streaming3 months ago (edited)

I haven't watched Melrose Place and 90210, and unlike you, I don't know why I'm still drawn to teen shows, but there's hardly any worth recommending or rewatching except Gilmore Girls.

Shows like Gossip Girl, Elite and those you mentioned are mainly about extremely rich people with superficial lives. While extravagant lifestyles draw in a good amount of viewers helping them escape the problems of real life. But all I see is that money makes people shallow; relationships or any stuff which is important to a normal person is taken for granted. How about portraying rich people as humble and decent for a change? But no. We see repeated tropes and betrayals at every turn throughout all the seasons which make them boring and annoying after a point.

I am finally watching Breaking Bad to change the aftertaste. I'm too late to it but I'm determined to tick it off from my watchlist this time.

So Gilmore Girls is worth seeing? I've never seen a single episode but am familiar with its popularity. I'm ok with romance rom-coms and basically anything if it is done well or creatively.

I don't know your taste but in my opinion it's a great show. I'm itching to watch it third time. Although I hate the main protagonist but I can make a long list of things I love about the show. It is relatable, decent and practical.

that's good enough for me. I kind of need a series that is easily consumable as most of the ones I am watching now are quite hardcore and difficult to follow. I would like to mix something in there that is simply easy and fun. Perhaps Gilmore Girls is exactly what I am looking for.
