What Lifeguards Really Do?

Let me just say this — I’ve always admired those people in red shirts blowing whistles at the beach or pool. Not because of the muscles (okay, maybe small), but because they literally watch over people’s lives… while we’re out there floating like Jollof rice in stew.
I once thought being a lifeguard was just chilling and looking cool, but no oo. These people go through serious training — swimming drills, CPR, emergency rescues, even how to handle panicking people in deep water.
You think it’s easy to drag someone twice your size out of the water while they’re flapping like catfish? Try am first 😂
Do You Know About Life Jackets?
That thing can save your life o. Some people feel too big to wear one, but when water current drag you like NEPA wire, it will humble you. Lifeguards always encourage using it — it’s not because they’re afraid for you, it’s because they’ve seen real-life wahala inside water.
So please, wear your life jacket. It’s not fashion, it’s survival.
>Why I Respect Lifeguards
They’re alert. Always watching. Whether it’s a child slipping by the pool or someone waving frantically far out at sea — they jump in without thinking twice.
>Final Thoughts
So next time you go to the beach or pool, try this:
📌 Smile at the lifeguard
📌Greet them
📌Respect the whistle
Big salute to all lifeguards out there! 🙌
You may not wear capes, but you’re real-life superheroes.
I will like to invite @missyleo @peachyladiva @onomzy01 to show their creativity using the prompt "Lifeguard."

This one really made me pause. We often see lifeguards as just “standing there with whistles,” but when you think about the weight of responsibility they carry, it’s humbling. They remind us that safety is not accidental, it’s intentional. And the part about life jackets? Truth! Pride won’t float you, but a jacket will.
Thank you for this timely reminder 🙌. I gladly accept the “Lifeguard” challenge. I’ll be sharing my own take soon! 🌊💡
Of course they have a special role to play. Talking about life jacket...... Never in my life world I try to travel to board without it... Me? No that's my greatest fear using water transportation..... Unless 🤣
HAahahaha, I also have that phobia as well.
