You are absolutely right about the poem, but if you are creative you can certainly write some filler in your poem, don't you think? Something like “I wrote this poem during my teenage life while looking at the sky”... and that's where you get the 300 words. You just have to be imaginative to write as much filler as you can.

    I would not do that. It spoils the poem if I am forced to write nonsense just to hit the 300 words. And if it's haiku the nonsense attracts more attention than the poem. I set you as mod. You can pin and unpin your contests and give upvotes.
