Right, we would naturally assume that they are protected but it's really hard for me to see it like that because of all the crazy 'coincidences' that I've seen all these years.
I even enquired about his health condition after I heard the news of his passing yet that can't take away the burden of guilt that I'm having inside.
You don't have to feel guilty about it. Death is the fate of every living being, and from the moment we are born, it is the only certainty we have in this world. If you never wanted it and never did anything against it, you don't have to feel guilty or have a guilty conscience. I am sure that when he came to you to offer help, he did so with the belief that he could do it. He knew better than anyone what he was exposing himself to. I say this in case that is what you think happened, but even so, it is not your fault.
Thank you for the comforting word, Wlin. This is one of the worst feelings that one had to live with.
That's what we're here for, my friend. To support each other when we need to... Don't blame yourself for that anymore.
