Souls Refraction: creation process

in CCC9 days ago

Hey everyone,

Super excited to share my latest piece, "Souls Refraction," which I've just minted on NFT Showroom for a June psychledic Art challenge. It was nice to test out my skills and I thinks its my first nft drawn on phone

About the Artwork:
"Souls Refraction" is an abstract digital artwork that dives deep into the concept of perception and fragmented reality. I wanted to create something that felt both complex and mesmerizing, like looking into a kaleidoscope of the mind or soul. The piece features vibrant purples and blues, with intricate circular and geometric patterns that create a sense of movement and depth. It’s all about exploring how light and essence can break apart and come back together in beautiful, unexpected ways. You can see the final artwork here:

My Process: A Glimpse Behind the Veil
I crafted "Souls Refraction" entirely using Sketchbook. It was a really organic process of building up layers and letting the colors guide the composition. Here's a quick look at how it came together:

  1. Starting the Guide: I began with a basic outline, getting the foundational shape down.

  1. Adding the Psychedelic Lines: Next, I started integrating those intricate circular and geometric patterns directly into the figure. This is where the "shattered" or "refracted" feel really began to emerge. Screenshot_20250607-103215.png
  1. Introducing Color: I then began to fill in specific areas, laying down the initial color base.

  1. Layering for Depth: Using multiple layers was key to building up the complexity and optical illusion.

  1. The Final Touch – Colour Burn: For the vibrant intensity you see in the final piece, I applied the Colour Burn filter. This really deepened the purples and blues, adding that distinct, high-contrast psychedelic glow.

I find it awesome! I never used sketchbook and it's fascinating to see how you build this. I would have never thought you would have made a sketch first.
I wonder what it was what I would see if I hadn't read your introduction, but... you did succeed in what you intended to show.

I tend to believe that I am not such a lover of modern art but I really like this one (also because it's purple).

What do you think @xiao-aine? Is this the next home robot?

Thanks so much, @wakeupkitty! So happy you find it awesome and interesting to see my process. Glad the purple hit the spot too

As for the home robot idea, that's a cool thought I think it's more of a 'soul than a robot but I lovethe interpretation 😉

I am fine with a soulless robot, one that doesn't talk too much and stays out of my wallet 🤣

Purple souls? 🤔

😂, guess I'll secure my wallet too cos it's a rouge type.

It's about how the mind might refract into different perceptions, with purple being the main color of that vision or so I think. You're already making me view it as a robot 😂
