Steemit is a colourful platform. If you invest time you discover so much more than repeated sentences, diaries and entries to contests. There are videos, awesome photos, there's poetry, art and gaming. You can learn with Steem, information is given and you can have a lot of fun if you take the time to comment. Indeed, it is sometimes necessary to translate, but if you have the courage to do this, you will certainly be surprised by what is shared on this platform.

1. Preface

True Colours' focus is on art, creativity, comments and countries which hardly receive rewards. We spent many hours finding less famous Steemians. In addition, we tried to visit as many communities as possible and to distribute the votes somewhat equally, given the nationality of the current curators and the countries they represent.
Where needed we left personal comments and we answered the replies left. As soon as the VP was 100 we started voting.

2. Statistics

In the second week of January 2025, Team 6 curated 35 posts and 159 comments. Higher upvotes were given.
We used hashtags while searching for content while keeping an eye on various key aspects like country, continent, gender and community.

What we noticed:

  • Several communities are no longer active
  • A large number have not one single comment
  • The number of comments seems to be increasing as well as the quality
  • Short contests such as comment contests are popular and are experienced as relaxing
  • The use of the right hashtags is deplorable

"Very often, when faced with a task or problem, we go online or turn to books, close ones, to gain experience. What did other people do in a similar situation? Many designers, artists, and photographers do the same. And here we need to understand if this is plagiarism or inspiration."

"The year 2024 had its own blessings and trouble, It was moments for great decisions with grace and ability to rise above all challenges that come my way. 2024 taught me to be more intentional, seek knowledge and as well enjoy every process of life’s journey."

"ChatGPT for that matter is pretty decent despite Microsoft's involvement, which brings me to AI. It's not all there yet but I'm pretty confident it will keep improving for the time being. Don't know if it will reach human cognition, or self-awareness rather, but then I don't see why it shouldn't (superficially speaking). We're kind of a biological computer ourselves."

"Fun is painted on a blackout curtain (32 x 80") given to me by a friend at one of my Friday mini-Stuckist exhibitions held in my home during the winter months. Many of my 2024 paintings were about chastising the community for its silence on Gaza that is deafening.

"Don Jonson plays "Vic" and he wanders the badlands or whatever with his dog companion "Blood." For reasons that are not really explained either in this movie or in the book, some people are capable of speaking to animals or at least to a dog. They can't talk to all animals, just to one particular one.... Blood is smarter than Vic."

"Half the time I kept wanting to scream at the characters in the book to remind them that they actually have a job to do, and maybe now isn't the time to do a therapy session or worry about whether or not the guy you like likes you back. It's the end of the world in 10 days, people! Act like it."

I have to mention that you are doing great work to bring more engagement on the platform because in your report you mention that 1509 comments are recorded which I think is a significant count of the comments. This reward is going to motivate more people to engage and leave available comment on their articles which is great and all together a great value addition you are doing on the steemit

Dear friend,
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read the report which is for most Steemians not interesting enough to have a closer look at.

This platform needs commenters and the main problem is that those who do comment have a huge lack of time to post. To those who never read a comment, it will look as if the account is inactive which isn't the case.

Imagine what Steemit would look like if no one comments and we all only drop a post and leave?

The Steemit Team asks from the curators to search and upvote comments. We learned from the past weeks that there are teams that hardly reward comments. The reason? I can only guess but the main reason will be that it is a lot of work to find comments, people who do engage especially if you rarely comment yourself.
Since this is something I do and many do reply to me and I know some Steemians who actively comment and receive replies this makes looking for comments easy.

Because I read and comment daily the group of commenters increases and I am happy with it. It's my belief that if we all comment on three different people per day and comments would be rewarded the stress of no post would no longer be in the way to connect with others. It would also be good if "inactive" because of a lack of posts wouldn't be an issue.

This is social media with a bit extra so why not use it like other social media?
I wish you a great evening, thanks for sharing your thoughts and I really hope that rewarding comments will stimulate more to take the time to connect although I also believe that without a reward it is good to make new friends.

I completely agree with you that engagement is very important but sadly a lot of people don't pay attention to this. In fact, comments are a great way to connect with various authors and people to build a connection and this is the social media is all about.

If we get more people who consume content and comment then undoubtedly steemit will be even better place. Thanks for your time and hope you have a great day

Would a club of commenters do the trick? 3-5. Per continent?

Thank you for putting this together and the statistics.. I have be up to little lately which definitely I will make my contributions..

And from which I have seen, necessary adjustments will be made definitely. Am just getting used to so many things here and I can’t wait to keep sharing my perspectives too.
Thanks always for your efforts 🙏🏾💫

Great to see comment chosen as a quality post. The last time I worked as a community curator I met a lot of great comments which I curated and now knowing they could also be chosen as quality post is cool.

I hope to experiment with that when next I have opportunity to work as a community curator.

Hello dear,
The first time team True Colours curated was in September 2024. The team did nominate comments back then as well. No one said it is not allowed so I wonder why you did not decide to do this? If a comment is great, as good as or even better than a post it deserves to be read and rewarded.

A good commenter invests a lot of time in reading and commenting.I do this daily for many hours and with more than one account. It will not always be read, is barely rewarded but comments are needed to engage and are part of what I call the social aspect of this platform.

Are all comments good? No way. There is a group of Steemians not leaving a personal comment but posting a summary of what the author wrote.
This is not what I call good, not valuable and not inviting to reply to. I myself find it insulting and it feels or is AI generated the answer. Many might not notice this since they do not recognize their own words (at times partly due to the use of a translator) and if it comes to curators they will also not be able to see it if they do not read or... check the comments of this Steemian.

Good commenters are rare but present and they will always comment no matter if they receive a reward.

I hope by the time you are a curator you will keep your word.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts
🍀♥️
