RE: Cryptid Hunter Curator Week 2 Report – August

@roadofrich

We are confused...

You have highlighted the 'bounty hunter' posting behavior of @mohammadfaisal - yet you appear to be voting for him everyday with booming02.

Isn't that just encouraging what you are against?

Remember also that you should be adding a comment to every post your upvote.

The use of booming02 makes me extremely sad. I suspect I am not alone in this.

Over 50% of votes since 1st August are concentrated to 10 users. Presumably the users that the game profits from most (I've made my feelings on this clear already and don't want to detract from the point of my comment).

These 10 users being supported have a combined Steem Power of 1,841,499.490 at the time of writing. Of this 1.8m+ SP, 1,787,639.173 is delegated to voting services - 97%.

In addition to this, the sort of content being voted on is actively encouraging others to do the same:

I always thought that the booming and steemcurator accounts were designed for a greater purpose. Designed to help the community. Help the community to grow and to thrive in a self-sustainable manner. Which is why @chriddi, @moecki and I found the role of steemcurator so difficult. A difficulty that I know you sympathise with.

To see a booming account used in this way... to help those already selfishly profiteering... to profiteer further because it helps the user with the keys selfishly profit... just fills me with sadness. Sadness that I am finding extremely difficult to articulate. Sadness that I know is felt by others.

The sadness that increases the feeling that I do not belong here.

I can't even think of an appropriate meme so this will have to do...

I will keep these records again to show them every week, and to visualize the management of the Booming and Steemcurator03 accounts, which are those with the greatest voting power.

We do not want to repeat what often happened in the past on Steemit, where certain users were told “you are engaging in misconduct, therefore you must be rejected and leave.” In reality, Steemit has often been intolerant of even small mistakes made by users, and as a result, countless instances of “witch hunts” have occurred. Our own service was once labeled a “scam” simply because of a few bugs and the lack of a proper tutorial — essentially another witch hunt, lol.

What I want is not to stop at pointing out problems, but to find solutions and ways forward. It is true that many so-called “bounty hunters” exist on Steemit today. However, if we can provide them with proper guidelines and make systematic improvements, I believe the community can transform into something more positive.

To be honest, our team also has its limits. With service development and updates already filling up our workload, it is very difficult to handle community management and curation activities on top of that. That is why I believe this issue should not be treated as a burden for a single individual or team alone, but rather as a matter for the entire community to discuss and resolve together.

We understand your concern.
To clarify, the votes given are at the minimum percentage level compared to other users. In other words, while they are receiving votes, these are very limited and cannot be compared to the level of support other users get.

This is indeed a gray area. On one hand, their posting style resembles the so-called “bounty hunter” behavior. On the other hand, they are still making use of the service in a minimal way, and since the number of active users on Steemit is already low, we are not sure if it is right to completely reject them.

In fact, I have encouraged them several times to engage more meaningfully with the platform. Sometimes, through them, new users also discover and join the community. That is why it is difficult to label them as entirely negative. It is more of an ambiguous situation rather than black-and-white.
