Introduction

It has been quite some time that I made this post. I want to apologize for my inability to do so. Lots of projects on hand have made it sometimes difficult to make the report. But from now going forward, I will make sure not to miss a week of making the report. I will like to thank the Steemit team for supporting authors from Nigeria and the many projects we started. Here is a rundown of some my activities for the week.

My activities for the Week

1. Power2Soar - Encouraging newbies and everyone to Invest in Steem

One of the things I do regularly is to stress the importance of newbies to join not with the aim of cashing out immediately from their first few posts, but to invest. So our community monthly powerup contest helps us to use incentives to motivate our members to invest in Steem power. So I announced the Power2Soar contest this week, which will happen on 18/5/2021. Happily, 2 new recruits have sent substantial amounts of fiat, which I will help them purchase steem with for the power up program. Many other old members are getting ready to powerup.

2. Save2Soar hits 6000 SP this week

Save2soar is another project I designed to encourage personal and community growth through building our steem power. I urged all voluntary participants to donate 10 steem per week which we accumulate in @save2soar account and power up. We will do this for 1 year. Right now, we have been able to accumulate +6000 SP after just 15 weeks. We have a total of 52 weeks in a year. Here is our last update for the previous week.

3. Radio Presentation as part of our awareness campaign

We are continually creating awareness through various means to bring more people to Steemit. On Friday, I and @samuel 20, the City Coordinator in Aba went to a popular Radio Station (Real FM) to make a 10 minute presentation for Steemit. It was a nice outing. We got calls right after our presentation. We invited the audience for a live training at our training center - 208 Azikiwe road Aba. Here are some pictures we took inside the studio and within the premises.

4. Our first Seminar at the Center 15/5/2021

Following the Radio presentation on Friday, we did a seminar on Saturday. Some of the people that called us said they were out of town. But we still have some that attended the seminar. One person @jennylove8 signed up and did her introduction post same day. The rest will come on Monday to start up. Some old members joined us and we enjoyed refreshments together. We took a few shots.

5. City Coordinator meeting, Fliers and T-shirts

I did a meeting with the leaders and encouraged them to promote Steemit more energetically in their cities through meetups, contests, and promotional Items. I am happy to report that many of the cities followed up the resolution. This resulted in bigger awareness being created across cities in Nigeria.

For example, @ngoenyi the Uyo City Coordinatorr has been organizing meetups virtually in Uyo Nigeria, but she did her first physical meetup last Saturday and they wore Steemit branded t-shirts.

@talktofaith the Lagos City Coordinator also did her first Lagos meetup and it was very huge.

Back here in Aba, I printed fliers within the week which has helped us to spread the word and create more awareness. I am really confident that we will do more to get new users and support old ones well.

6. Challenge of supporting Newbies

As a community that is fully into recruitment and mentoring newbies, we have the challenge of not having some new members verified and voted within the 7 days voting window. As a result, some new member introduction posts pay out without a vote. We hope that more resources would be available in the nearest future to support everyone that join us

Our Internal solution to the challenge

We are seriously building our community trail as always. SteemAlive is now the 2nd most popular curation trail with 360 followers as shown below:

image.png

We vote at $7.6 when fully recharged. We have a voting schedule where members are voted according to city groups. But to support newbies more efficiently, we launched a 1 month newbew support program. The aim is to give newbies enough support on some of their posts as they learn about the platform in their first month. To track them, I designed the spreadsheet below which is filled by the 11 Coordinators in SteemAlive.

So for the next 1 month, we will vote the newbies with our curation trail. In this way, their first post will not expire without a vote even if the voting team could not reach them due to too many posts to be voted. We hope to vote at least 2 posts per week for the newbies as part of the 4 weeks support.

Conclusion

Steemit has really touched the lives of many young people in Nigeria. I am humbled to be used in this capacity to impact lives. i will continue to do more in the coming week. We have planned for branded t-shirts, more target campaigns to youth groups, Radio presentation, fliers and other promotional projects.

I am eager to work harder in areas am found weak and continue to improve in this capacity. Thank you Steemit Team for this opportunity
