From the end of autumn, the lakes and lagoons in Niigata suddenly become crowded again. Countless ducks suddenly have arranged to hold their annual meetings and finally chill out together again. Slowly the waters are filling up and it's getting lively. Chattering and flapping all day long, they seem to have a lot to tell each other.

In addition to the ducks, the first swans have arrived as well, having made the long journey south from eastern Siberia. Even though it will be a real winter in Niigata too, and it also snows a lot, the weather still seems to be better than in their home far in the north. In a few weeks we will see countless swans, which then will stay until the beginning of spring. In the meantime they are going explore their winter quarters and search for food on the harvested rice fields.

The scene for our photos today is the Sagata Lagoon, a freshwater basin in the immediate vicinity of the Sea of Japan. In the background you can see the mountain Kakudayama, which is already covered with a little snow. We still get a bit of blur sky now and then, but from the middle of December the sun will not come out for a long time. That's when the grey and gloomy time begins, during which we will also the tons of snow. But also this season has its charm and also offers amateur photographers like me many great motifs.

Therefore, there is no reason to mope. Whether rain, snow or sun, that's just life and we have to take each day as it comes.

The next few days will be wet and rainy, but I still have all the wonderful photos and memories. And these I like to share with you!

DEUTSCH

Ab Ende Herbst wird es auf den Seen und Lagunen in Niigata plötzlich wieder voll. Unzählige Enten scheinen sich hier verabredet zu haben, ihr jährliches Treffen abzuhalten und endlich wieder einmal gemeinsam abzuchillen. Langsam füllen sich die Gewässer und es wird lebendig. Geschnatter und Geflatter den ganzen Tag lang, man scheint sich eine Menge zu erzählen zu haben.

Zusätzlich zu den Enten sind nun auch bereits die ersten Schwäne eingetroffen, welche den weiten Weg aus dem Osten Sibiriens Richtung Süden angetreten sind. Auch wenn es in Niigata auch Winter wird und ordentlich schneien tut, scheint das Wetter dann immer noch besser zu sein als in der Heimat weit im Norden. In einigen Wochen werden auch unzählige Schwäne zu sehen sein, welche sich dann tagsüber zur Futtersuche auf den abgeernteten Reisfeldern rumtreiben werden.

Als Szene für unsere heutigen Fotos dient uns die Sagata-Lagune, ein Frischwasserbecken in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Japanischen Meer. Im Hintergrund kann man dern Berg Kakudayama erkennen, welcher bereits mit ein wenig Schnee bedeckt ist. Noch zeigt sich ab und zu ein wenig blauer Himmel, aber ab Mitte Dezember wird sich die Sonne für lange Zeit nicht mehr raustrauen. Dann beginnt hier die graue und trübe Zeit, in der es immer wieder ordentlich schneien wird. Aber auch diese Jahreszeit hat ihren Reiz und bietet auch Amateurfotografen wie mir viele tolle Motive.

Deshalb gibt es auch keinen Grund zum Trübsal blasen. Ob Regen, Schnee oder Sonne, so ist halt das Leben und man muss jeden Tag so nehmen, wie er kommt.

Die nächsten Tage wird es nun nass und regnerisch werden, aber mir bleiben ja noch all die wundervollen Fotos und Erinnerungen. Und diese teile ich gerne mit euch!
