That son is most likely not a teenager yet. It's like our phrase: Berouw komt na de zonde but honestly I doubt she regrets, she regrets she misses the luxury and being served but that is a different story.
The average child is hard to please amd teenagers see what they like to see.
I believe that a child who treats his parents badly repents, I cannot imagine such a perverse person continuing his life as if nothing had happened.
