It's not the thing itself (phone call) it's how it is used. There is a lot of abuse going on with phone calls. Many people prefer to just not use the phone for calling or receiving calls. Personally I have the ringer turned off and prefer texts and messages. Whatever works for you.
It's indeed not the phone but the way how the average phone calls today are making us feel miserable.
