NC stands fo New Constantinople, If you have been following the story, it should stand up by now. Even in this episode, you can make the mental association. New Constantinople appears first and only after, the abbreviation.
In this piece it could stand for at least 2 different things, how about: Niponic corporations?!
If it would be clear the reader wouldn't ask or? If you write for yourself it will be clear.

I re-read the piece and do concede that It can can turn into a laborious confusion, so, I adjusted the text. I will have to cut it back out when I print the full novel, as it will make for a strage reading to be constantly repeating New Constantinople.
I now believ,e, I should have considered this before ever naming the place.
Still, the name carries it's meaning.
