Love Is A War (Live) Music Video & Story Behind The Concert
I wanted to see if we could create a bubble of human kindness, love, and creativity and live inside that bubble long enough to start seeing through all the divisions.
Love Is A War (Live) From The Deep
A good farewell for an ending ritual of the last four-year era.
I released Love is a War during the drama of the Trump Election. I am always out of sync with the world. For one, I'm militantly unpolitical. It takes a lot of effort and some scorn from others to uphold a non-political stance these days.
At the time of this concert, 4-years ago, I had put together a group of people to help me make this live sing-along album. Those people, 'The Congregation', were all from different political sides, religions, and other sides of the burning cultural issues.
I wanted to see if we could create a bubble of human kindness, love, and creativity and live inside that bubble long enough to start seeing through all the divisions.
We did hold it together long enough to make this album, Live From The Deep. Some of the group, afterward, exploded in not great ways; some in political/cultural warfare online.
Politics should be a tiny percentage of our thought life—a little slice. Any more and we risk becoming the pawns of the politicians. Because we then are watching their theater, and oh how they need such an audience.
A public that is obsessed with politics is a very sick population. We make the politicians relevant. They are not saviors; they are ignorant destroyers, and the more that we look at them as the saviors, the more power they have to destroy igronelty.
You can listen to the entire concert on Spotify or Apple music or your fav music app (just search Ezra Vancil Live From The Deep). You can also watch many of the cuts on YouTube playlist.
A Good Experiment In Love
The Congregation was an experiment. It didn't work. But I'm happy with the moment that we caught. A very real and honest moment on stage. I don't have a lot of hope for the big wide world. But I have a lot of hope for you, and for me, if we will wage our own personal War Of Love within ourselves.
—so, sing along
Come everybody pray
Make your decision
Starting today
From the bars of our prisons
You don't have to believe
In the God I conceive
Just Come everybody pray
Cause It's starting today
Come everybody sing
Raise your voice to the heavens
What blessings we'd bring
Even one day in seven
You don't have to break
Any vows that you made
Come everybody sing
Cause It's starting today
Chorus:
_CONGREGATION WOMEN: Oo la la la background
It's starting today
Call your ministers of war
Of the state and religion
Go and Stand at their door
Those who deal in divisions
Theres no need to debate
What love demonstrates
Go and stand at their gates
Tell them we're starting today
Come everybody dance
Like you've just been risen
From the ocean of man
Like all is forgiven you
CONGREGATION UNISON:
Now give it away
To the one that you've hate-ed
So, Come everybody dance
Cause we're Starting today.
Chorus:
CONGREGATION WOMEN: Oo la la la background
We're starting today ...
Last verse:
Somebody lift up your hand
Like your the only one living
Who was given this chance
To make something worth giving
CONGREGATION UNISON:
to the ocean of man
Who can't understand
That this love is a war
We're starting today
CONGREGATION
Love is a war
.... love is the war
We're starting today
....... we're starting today
Love is a war
....... love is the war
We're starting today
….... we're starting today
Love is a war
....
