Pushed to the Edge: Once, Twice, Thrice

in Freewriters2 days ago

What they did was beyond despicable and inhumane.

Their conduct is no different from an attempt at manslaughter, but even when their actions weren't explicitly aligned with existing laws, they were still effectively above the law.

When Mio tried to be honest about her condition with Rikka, she confided in her about being suicidal and depressed, desperately needing help, and also hoping to seek some ceasefire from Rikka to respect her boundaries.

Clinging to life, she had sought help at the emergency ward.

Any person with a conscience would have known to back off and give Mio space.

In trying to keep peace at the cost of her own truth, she had omitted the fact that her suicidal ideation stemmed from Rikka and her family's relentless manipulation and harassment, which had eroded her well-being

Such a truth could only be told straightforwardly only in court, where all their wrongdoings would be completely laid bare.

Instead of saying something decent, Rikka further pushed Mio, telling her to stop all medication and treatment and forbidding her from discussing the matter further.

Knowing someone was on the verge of suicide, and deep inside seeing the result from the profound harm they had already inflicted, it's as if Mio's attempts at recovery were being sabotaged, depriving her of all chances of getting better, pushing her further to the edge.

They had knowingly put her in great danger.

Isn't this, in essence, indirect murder without the need for physical violence?

Then, fully aware of Mio's fragile state, Rikka's daughter escalated the psychological torment through extreme humiliation.

Both mother and daughter further harassed Mio, making all kinds of unreasonable demands and verbally abusing Mio with complete lack of remorse.

Medication and illness can alter one's appearance; it's not something the patient chooses. They ramped up their attacks, which included body shaming and public humiliation, especially targeting Mio's appearance and insecurities.

This was particularly detestable as Sumio had explicitly told them not to, knowing Mio's sensitivity, yet they persisted.

This time, Mio acted on her second round of suicidal intent. She planned her suicide by buying a rope and learning to tie a hangman's knot.

In the end, she decided that jumping off would be better, so she climbed onto the 32nd-floor balcony, but stopped because of her cat.

The cat followed Mio everywhere, meowing at her, and Mio realized that if she jumped, the cat might jump too, thinking that Mio was going somewhere.

That thought stopped Mio in her tracks.

Everything was seemingly done with the cynical awareness of the legal loophole: that as long as they didn't physically push her off the railing, they couldn't be prosecuted.

How easy is it to prove murder based on words or bullying, especially when the harm is psychological and mental, without physical action?

So, what if we did all that, short of physical acts?

While coercion was certainly involved and an obvious, genuine intent to ruin her was evident, their words, despite being reckless and manipulative, can still be argued as simply misguided.

It's a high bar for proper legal prosecution, especially in Mio's experience where, she believes, supernatural elements were also involved - which she knows and is sure of but has no legal way to prove.

This is exactly why this duo feel free to continue with their various abuses.

If there is ever a day that justice can be served for Mio, these two should be locked away.

Their cruelty knows no bounds; not even a presidential pardon would clear them of the blood on their hands.
