Then I shall begin. Today's freewrite courtesy of @mariannewest is Zoo.
It was an autumn evening and I was the last person in the park. It is my favourite time, the people have gone and the animals are peaceful, settling down for another night in their pens. I look at them closely, trying to see through their eyes and into their souls, wondering if they are happy. On one hand, they do not have to hunt for food or search for water. On the other hand, they are not free. Freedom is so important to me so it must be to these animals too. If given the choice, what would they choose? Would they choose to roam free and explore the world, or would they settle for the ease and laziness of life in a zoo. Watching the strange humans staring and taking pictures with those stupid cameras.
As I wander, the multicoloured leaves waving in the breeze have another calming affect on me. Everything is so peaceful here, it just feels right. Perhaps I could find a pen for the night and leave my troubles from the world behind. Get my meals provided for me without the battle against the pots and pans and my own little cubs screaming at my ankles. Perhaps the lazy life would suit me, no longer surrounded by chaos and the stress I inflict upon myself. Everything
– About Me –
I like the same things as most other people, animals, gardening, cooking, travelling, photography, art, TV, music and films which is probably what I’ll write about most. I talk and swear too much and am always noticing things that I should not be noticing. I am the mother to two beautiful young boys and the wife to a caring husband. I live in London and love the city.
